I once watched several small carrot plants get pulled under the ground one after another in a short period of time.Just like in the cartoons. I stomped the tunnel on either side of where the carrots were and trapped the gopher in the middle. It stuck it's head up out of a hole where a carrot used to be and a shovel was the last thing that critter ever saw.He made good fertilizer-at least the plants grew pretty good that year once he was gone. Putting the water hose in the hole doesn't work.they dig tunnels to drain rain water etc.so they know how to get away from water when they have to. A friend put a bunch of gopher gassers (poison smoke bombs) in several gopher holes then covered them with wood-as the instructions say-Halfway down the block people came running out of their house with smoke pouring out from under the house. They thaught they were on fire... He flooded his next door kniebors back yard where the gophers drain hole was too on another day.He had left the hose on all afternoon and the water was washing mud into the guys pool. Nothing like kicking back with a homebrewed beer watching someone at war with the gophers. Almost as good as watching the launch ramp follies at the lake every summer. Me,I feed the bugs and birds hot peppers and hot pepper plants... :) All my plants are in containers. Check out the link below.Watch the video. Blow them up.Pretty funny. Oh Wow Lynn...I was laughing too.. but nervously! Those type of things (in the night) would scare the heck out of me too. I was also thinking of the poor police officer going off in the night, not knowing what to expect. I'm happy to hear all is well, and it was JUST a pop of a transformer.. I agree it was a good thing you were up w/DH with his foot cramp when it happened. Do you have an alarm system on your home? We do and that would have set the alarm off, when all the power goes off. Our system has a backup that sends it right out to security. We live out here in the 'sticks' and I always feel like I'm so alone, but the alarm gives me some peace of mind. I can't get over you sleeping with your doors open like that...I would be too chicken to do that. Guess it's a 'growing up in NY' kind of thing..but then again, being out here now in the 'Country'...it's the 4 legged creatures now, versus the 2 legged!! Glad all has ended well for you...what a way to start the day, and Punk is right..there will be many laughs over it. jane

Just sent it to my husband at work. He needs a good laugh on Fridays! Thanks for posting!

I remember reading that...but it's still just as funny.... I am completely surprised that I didn't find a post from me on there...My DH has done a few things during our 42 years that I tell on him every now and then. patti
