Reader Photos: A Holiday Table for the Birds
Houzz user Sherri Mathers gives her backyard birds a Christmas table of their own
Houzz member Sherri Mathers of Two Tulips Talking came up with this charming outdoor vignette while sitting at her computer, thinking it would be fun to have something festive to look at out the window. So she set off to the thrift store where she saw a set of Christmas dishes and thought, Why not a place setting for birds?

She found a tablecloth, place mats, candle holders, tree centerpiece, a couple of doves and a blue jay, and out-maneuvered another holiday shopper for some Christmas silverware.
An outdoor umbrella keeps the vignette covered. Double-sided tape anchors the seed-filled dishes and gives the birds a secure ridge to stand on. Candles light the scene at night when the birds are away.
Dinner is served.
"I love this idea so much," she says, "I'm going to do a spring and summer table setting." Read more about Mathers' project here.
