It's nice to have a bottle on hand to splash with soda in a spritzer or macerate with fruit for a quick dessert. 2 cups water 1 1/3 cups sugar 1/2 cup limoncello 1 cup fresh lemon juice (about 6 large lemons) 1/2 cup chopped fresh mint 2 cups blackberries Lemon slices (optional) 1. Combine first 3 ingredients in a saucepan over medium-high heat; bring to a boil, stirring until sugar dissolves. Remove from heat; add lemon juice and mint. Cover and chill. 2. Strain juice mixture through a sieve into a bowl; discard solids. Pour mixture into the freezer can of an ice-cream freezer; freeze according to manufacturer's instructions. Spoon sorbet into a freezer-safe container; cover and freeze 1 hour or until firm. Serve with blackberries; garnish with lemon slices, if desired. If you give your name to the police or they have caller ID you will probably be identified by name in the police report which is available to the public if someone asks for it. If he shouts directly at you and uses abusive or threatening language or gestures he can be charged with "assault" by the police with you as a witness. If he comes on your property while in that mode he would probably be arrested especially if alcohol or drugs are involved (which is highly likely). It helps to have another witness, video, etc. In any event, he would probably get a written warning and that would be noted at the dispatch level which would alert the police to bring backup if they were called to that address again. He obviously doesn't understand how much trouble he could get into by this kind of behavior. The downside is that you might have to testify against him in court. It's important to decide how much disruption to your life this guy is worth. Be glad he won't be living there.

Thanks to everyone and their advice. Mom of 4, I think your ideas and advice were really excellent. Well have to try to put it into practice. When I say temper tantrums I mean refusing to move, screaming (not crying) so loud I can hear it inside when all the windows are closed, and yelling at the top of their voice that Dads hurting them when he tries to get them to sit down or going inside to calm down. I know people always say, "Youll never know until you have kids" but sometimes you just know when behavior is not normal or unacceptable. Plasticgarden, I think youre absolutely right about the "Disneyland Dad" thing. Weve talked about this before and he does acknowledge the he does overcompensate when he does see them. Hes said that he doesnt want to "neglect" them. I tried explaining that theres a long ways between neglect and instilling independence. I think weve figured out whats going on, now we just have to try to figure out how to correct it. But, Im feeling much less crazy than I did a day or so ago. I really want to stress Im not expecting them to act perfect all the time, but I think theres a threshold of acceptable behavior that they havent quite reached (through no fault of the kids). As for the French (which seems to be a main issue now): I can have conversations in French. I can buy bread, and go to the store and the doctorss and have lunch alone with his parents. I just dont feel confident in sitting down with two young boys and having such a delicate discussion. But, maybe Dad can be used for his commendable translation skills here. : ) Anyway. Our Sunday paper had an article by a woman who spoke about taking her toddler to the art museum, where her daughter ran shrieking with delight through the halls, garnering "stern looks' from the docents, especially since mom could barely keep up with the child who was trying to touch the installations. The author thought this was all fine because her daughter was entertained. Just a few moments ago, TG read a trip advisor review of the TItan Missle launch museum. Some guy was completely put out because he and his 18 month old were asked to leave. He explained that the child was yelling because he frustrated that he was not allowed to touch everything. He proclaimed the site to be "not toddler friendly". Ya think?? I understand that children need to have the opportunity to learn how to conduct themselves in a variety of settings, but a toddler on a titan missle tour? running through the art museum? When the kid is too young and can't handle it, the parent needs to have plan B. I am absolutely astounded that some parents are so inconsiderate of other patrons.
