J.R. I just got my Zeiss HD2 progressive lenses. Suppose to have a much wider field of view and better vertical progression for computing and reading comfort. Actually turned out to have as small or smaller width and vertical progression than my three year old glasses. I have had similar results from all of my progressive lenses and I guess Zeiss feels that if they tell you something it will work. I am Taking them back within the first two hours and getting my money back. I really don't think they are as good as my old ones. I have had lots of progessives and there is no fit or other problem here. It is just the same or has worse limitations as all progressives and that is not what I was promised. ZEISS THESE ARE NOT AN IMPROVEMENT and $400.00 is a lot of money for no improvement.

Take a deep breath. This might be easier for us to read. I am a desperate mother of a 3 year old and everything I do doesnÂt work. He refuses to talk when IÂm around but if IÂm not there heÂs talking with no problem. HeÂs a good boy for everyone else. He can be at grandmas, his uncleÂs, or his godparents, even my fiancéÂs motherÂs house and he talks and he listens, very rarely pitches fits (which is all the time when IÂm around). As soon as I walk in he starts acting up, not listening, getting into things that he knows heÂs not supposed to get into. He wonÂt ask for anything, he whines all the time no matter how much attention I give him. It seems like its never enough. I work with him on his word books, he still acts like he canÂt talk and I know he can, its so aggravating. We have tried everything we can think of. He has a naughty chair when he is bad; he has to sit in it. That doesnÂt work, he keeps getting up or screaming, and we have a "neighbor" that lives upstairs from us and has called CPS on us because of his fits and his screaming fits. we cannot move at this moment because of how bad the economy is. But now because of CPS and their threats we are afraid to punish him and I know he knows that. These people came in my house and told me in no uncertain terms that I could not punish him in any way. The only thing I can do is give him a timeout, and IÂm sorry but in my opinion TIMEOUTS only work on a small fraction of children. My fiancé spends as much time with my son as he can because his biological father isnÂt there for him, (he knows my fiancé as daddy heÂs been the only daddy heÂs known for way over a year and a half). His behavior is out of control and its me and I donÂt know what to do anymore. I just want him to listen and talk. I feel its my fault cause after his "father" walked out on him I think I overcompensated. I would watch my son stand in front of my living room window looking and waiting for that ***hole to show up to come get him (sometimes up to 3 hours). He would just blow my son off and not come, no phone call, no nothing. Because I felt so bad for my son I lacked on the "rules" and now its come back to bite me and I donÂt know how to correct it. I NEED HELP!

Add me to Lynn's vote for an adult only section. Our Sunday paper had an article by a woman who spoke about taking her toddler to the art museum, where her daughter ran shrieking with delight through the halls, garnering "stern looks' from the docents, especially since mom could barely keep up with the child who was trying to touch the installations. The author thought this was all fine because her daughter was entertained. Just a few moments ago, TG read a trip advisor review of the TItan Missle launch museum. Some guy was completely put out because he and his 18 month old were asked to leave. He explained that the child was yelling because he frustrated that he was not allowed to touch everything. He proclaimed the site to be "not toddler friendly". Ya think?? I understand that children need to have the opportunity to learn how to conduct themselves in a variety of settings, but a toddler on a titan missle tour? running through the art museum? When the kid is too young and can't handle it, the parent needs to have plan B. I am absolutely astounded that some parents are so inconsiderate of other patrons.

I have an Amazon parrot, and definitely sympathize with the screaming. Zach doesn't care about being covered either, but I am VERY lucky that he rarely gets set off. A couple of suggestions: Even squirting water at him is getting attention, and ANY bit of attention, good or bad, encourages the behavior. He screams, and you come into the room to cover him, tell him to shut up, yell at him, squirt him, whatever, the point is you come into the room, and it's like hitting the jackpot- he's got your attention. I'd recommend a good pair of earplugs or an iPod and totally ignoring him whenever he screams. I shut Zach's door without talking to him or making eye contact with him the few times he gets into a screaming fit. He stops within minutes. Captive birds get bored. In the wild, birds spend 75% of their waking hours searching for food. In captivity, most birds get their food placed in a bowl which stays in the same place and is basically always available. Having food available means more time for other activities such as preening (thankfully your bird isn't a feather-picker), and "chatting" with his flock. Captive foraging can help provide the bird with something closer to a natural experience. Start by hiding his favorite treats in a wadded up piece of paper or in toys designed for captive foraging. Make him work for the fun stuff. Once he starts eating the favorite treats that way, start hiding his regular food too. Even though cockatiels have been captive bred for many many years, they are still birds with certain behaviors that cannot be bred or socialized out of them. Providing adequate alternatives to natural behavior may help make your bird happier and less likely to scream.
