Elderly cats do get kidney disease plus heart congestion, our 17 year old cat did and we gave medication, special foods and he hated it and was so thin. Talk about hard, I phoned and got an appointment and told my mom I did and started sobbing and she told me to cancel it. I did puzzled why? She said if its too hard, we won't do it. I said no, its time and I phoned back and my dad and I sobbed all the way there to the vet and then we had to wait while this lady had 4 cats to get checked and then it was our turn and the room they took us in was the same as they check the cats and there was others behind us and so it was a rushed goodbye and I didn't like that at all. We all sobbed and cried, he was my precious, I can still see him coming down the hallway upstairs in my parents place and him yelling his head off and I would say he needs his four hugs a day as he demanded them daily. He was my beloved and I miss him still alot and its been 6 years since we said goodbye. Its a huge gap in our lives when we lose our beloved pets, doesn't matter how little or how long they are with us, that bond is so deep and so strong. ((((((((((((((((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

How very kind of you. A lot of people will feel sympathy, but they won't get involved. I've rescued quite a few pigeons. I was at Lowe's one time and found one that someone had thrown in the trash can...and had asphalt all over him. They were re-topping the roof, and I don't know if it was an accident, or if someone had done it on purpose. Hard to imagine how he would have gotten it coated all over his back. I took him home and washed him many times in Dawn detergent. Until he got his strength back, I hand fed him...catfood soaked in milk or water. He was black and white, and I named him Checkers. Found another one in Houston, on the sidewalk, in the middle of summer, heat exhausted. A young one that had been kicked out of the nest but couldn't find enough food or water. I named this one Hue. It turned out to be a female. She would follow me all over the place. Later she mated with another rescued pigeon named Junior (hit by a car and blinded in one eye) and they had two babies, but just before the babies were big enough to leave the nest, she disappeared. I am sure she was eaten by a hawk or owl, as was Checkers. Junior finished raising the babies. I had started feeding the wild pigeons and later Junior and the babies joined up with them. A lot of people don't like pigeons, but I found a forum about pigeons, and learned a lot about them. For one thing, they are extremely smart and get very attached to their owners when raised as a pet.

That is old, but have had one older....35. She is not a very personable horse....she would rather be left alone, but I do think she appreciated me being with her her yesterday. Erin, have had trouble with my laptop, and typing on my phone is a pain. I will send you the other Bayou Tails as soon as I am up and running again. I am good at saying no, but possums have specific dietary requirements and most people won't raise them right and they get crippled and then they send them to me to save, and you can't. So I would rather take them and raise them right and be done with it. I have a mama possum and she is raising nine babies. All of mine are off the tube now and eating from a dish. Nickel, you asked how I started doing this....I guess you mean rehabbing wildlife. Not because I wanted to. I felt sorry for the babies. Also I get free food for my dogs, cats, and raccoons. I raised waterlilies and had two hundred varieties and to keep the raccoons out of my ponds, I fed them. I live in the boondocks on a bayou, and there are lots of raccoons here. who this going to rescue Marilyn? No one. I will probably die and the possums will eat me before anyone realizes I am gone. :)
