Bald Eagle in Maryland left to Tend Nest by Himself

Martha, one of two bald eagles hanging out within sight of the Washington Beltway, was injured in a fight with another female bald eagle. Her injury has left her mate, George, to tend to their nest by himself. The URL below briefly tells the story. George and Martha's nest is right near the new Woodrow Wilson Bridge that is being built to replace an old span. Special care has been taken to minimize the impact to the local wildlife, including the bald eagles. Some winters as many as 30 bald eagles hang out in the area. Due to the mild winter the number was considerably lower this winter.
