is this a giant squirrel?
Comments (28)We still have a few fox squirrels down the road a little, but only a few as compared to about a dozen just 10 years ago. Ours are more of the yellow with a little black on top. The ones we have are beautiful. Some of my favorite locals, along with split tail kites and sand hill cranes. A mile from my place there is a 20 acre tract where a pair of SHCs have two fuzzy orange babies right now. They will stay there all season and we get to see them almost every day....See Moreohhhh i am soo mad!!! squirrels!!!!!
Comments (5)It seems to keep them from chewing on wood, at least (keeps the neighbors' pets away, too, I've been told). If you don't plan on eating the skin of the peaches (pepper might not wash off entirely), you can try boiling pepper in water and spraying it on part of one of your trees to see if the squirrels leave it alone. I should probably warn you that I haven't tried this before, though I've used other spices as pest repellents. Nothing oily, though. Failing that, if your trees are short and close together, you might be able to protect them with chicken wire. Works for my seedlings, but of course, they don't need much space....See MoreHave neighbor shooting gun at squirrels!!!
Comments (33)I saw this tread and thought "Oh my God! My father has come back from the dead!" When we lived in St Louis, my parents lived in an old (c1914) three story house. My father had his "gun room" on the 3rd floor - reloaded all his own shells. He also had multiple bird feeders on our terrace and in our small, narrow backyard. Daddy took it VERY personally when a squirrel would get the food out of the bird feeders. He spent a fortune on "squirrel-proof" bird feeders; they were not. So he would stand at the window on the 3rd floor and use an air rifle (the kind children use to receive for Christmas) and shoot the squirrels at his bird feeders. My mother and I were horrified; I'm sure some of the neighbors were as well, but no one ever called the police. The squirrels always won. They just sent in reinforcements and my father could not be on guard 24/7. No, it was NOT dementia. It was just a man who was born in a small rural town in 1901 who was given his first rifle at age 6 and allowed to go out shooting with a buddy. Amazingly, no one was ever hurt. If they shot a song bird, his mother had plenty to say about it. To him, this was normal. You can take the boy out of the country but you can't take the country out of the boy....See MoreSquirrel/Chicory ..photoshoppers ..can you help?
Comments (59)leahcate thank you for sharing! I think we definitely keeping it white! You are 100% right.. ..adding color does take away from this house.. does nothing for it. I do appreciate ChicoryÂs time and talent that she took to do this for me, whether she knows it or not, she was a HUGE help as she allowed me to see how it would look with color, but the most important thingÂ.she helped me appreciate what we have. (Thanks so very much Chic!!) To everyone else who lovingly helped, I want to thank you big time ! Without you , I wouldnÂt of made the right decision and would have had major regrets. Through your eyes I finally saw what you did. You were all a huge influence in helping me make the right decision. Your compliments were incredibly nice and up lifting.. you guys are great as you really lifted my spirits and helped me appreciate what we have also. Thank you again!!! I will find a new shutter and door color. The landscape will be done this spring. I am looking for my own photo shop program, so I can learn and use it to visually see different colors for the door and shutterÂs , different landscape etc.. as this will really help me in making the right decisionÂ. (again) I will keep all of you posted . When (and if) I learn to do photo shop, I will put up pictures Thanks once again to all of you!!! ((((((hugs)))))) Ree...See Moremuscledbear
