So are you ready? I live in central Texas, so my chances of snow are none.Last time we had snow if you could call it that,was earlier this month, and then just few flurries nothing to brag about.Hit the ground and melted!! now I have had a couple of freezes,got most of my plants covered up, but even then I did lost some plants, so what I did I just cut them back to the ground hoping they come back next year.

My garden is ready, everything is mulched or potted up in the temporary greenhouse. The GFCI croaked and got replaced last snowstorm, so there is heat in there. It just seems like am unusual weather pattern for the area. Heck, last year my low temp was 27.

I just realized that this is one of those 'is it cold enough for you?' topics that I start in the grocery check out :-)

I've been watching since about 6:30 this morning.. I didn't think it looked like it was going to do much of anything that was predicted.. but now..I have changed my mind. :)

It will be interesting to watch what happens as it makes its way into N Texas.

So far we haven't had snow, just rain, even on Christmas Eve/Christmas Day. We are about 20 miles SE of Waco, and I think that bad weather is afraid to cross I-35!

When it drops below sixty, it is cold enough for me, Pam. I am one of those people who is miserable all winter long, and just longing for Spring. Wish it came the day after New Year's.

Marlingardener, I hope it stays away from your home, I don't think we are all that far from Waco, just 100 or so miles.

I don't think we'll get any snow here in DFW. At least not the D part. TWC has changed our forcast low to 35 degrees for tonight. I also would like to cast my official vote for Make Spring Come Earlier!

At home, thankfully! It is mixed, medium flakes and rain, but the temp has dropped to 34 now :-)

I'm no dummy! I wore my sweatpants to run my errands! It took over an hour for me to 'warm back up' once I got back home. I'm no good in the cold even if I have the heater running full blast.

We've had ice TWICE in the dog dish on the back deck. TWICE! We rarely have ice even once, much less TWICE this early in the year. The temps across Texas are 10-15 degrees below normal this year. The temps don't seem to be cooperating with the conference on global warming do they?

I've got snow in N Flower Mound. It was melting at first but is starting to stick now. I can't wait for the pink line and the blue stuff to get here! :)

i am. it was a nice sort of white christmas. i live in north Texas *prob more NE Texas* but we got a few snowflakes. now today its raining again so who knows what those clouds will bring.

also i have family in Lubbock and they have said that they got about 5in last snowfall. Whoa

I'm a weenie, I whine when it gets to 80. I would have to call in if it snowed! We were very relieved when that last snow stopped at the causeway. It's raining again here. I'm starting to develop webbed feet.

The dogs look at us like we're insane when we try to get them out, then they don't want to come back in. Even the outdoor cats came in last night, not that cold but rainy and cold. Oscar spent the night on the electric blanket. He sits in the window and makes me feel guilty.

Our monarch cats don't seem bothered with the weather. They are out there happily munching away at the butterfly weed.

But we do have heat and windows so it could be a lot worse. I could be in Azle!

I feel like I must be in the twilight zone, because I posted on this thread this morning, came back later, opened the thread and read the post and now it is gone.

Now I am beginning to wonder about me as I had asked if this, indeed, is not our third round of snow here in North Texas as I had some the middle of December (I think, or was that just a nightmare????)!!!

It is the third snow for us in December. The second, the twenty-fourth and the twenty-ninth. It started melting here right after dark.

Carrie, there are more posts here today than yesterday, but it does look like some are missing. It must be the GW gremlins again :-)

It's foggy as all get out right now, I can't see the parking lot. Cold tonight, cold all next week. What happened to global warming? This reminds me of winters when I was a kid. My sister had 2' in just a few hours-she's in Delaware.

As usual, the forecast has changed, again.
Now 'they' are saying it will be cloudy...
snow is gone and precipitation only 20% .

The high for us up here in N TEXAS on Thurs Jan 7 is supposed to be 28*!!!!

AND 'they' have put snow in the forecast for Sun Jan 10.

Does this mean there will NOT be an early Spring?????

I think it just means we're having a real winter this year. :)

Yes, at the present time, it looks as if we are going to have several days of at or below freezing .........NOT my kind of weather !!!!

Oh man Tally!! I'm sure you have a lot more and lots bigger plants to drag inside than I did.

Yesterday I finally drug in the last 3 pots I had outside under the covered part of the patio. If the temps weren't going so low I'd have left them out and only covered them with blankets like I've been doing. I'm afraid blankets wouldn't offer the protection needed for what is on its way.

This is supposed to be the coldest in a decade. I'll be bringing in stuff I have NEVER brought in before. And we're trying to figure out how to save some bigger things. Most of it will be on it's own. Like the angel trumpets, etc. I'm gonna go get a bale or 2 of hay and use it on some of the plants. Once the plants are all taken care of I'm turning on all the heaters, the electric blanket, the heated mattress pad, putting on long underwear, all the winter clothes I own and not leaving the bed until it thaws out. Me thinks hot rum toddies are in order me mateys! Aarrgghh!

OK, I call Uncle!! Disease, Flood, fire, freeze, are we out of disasters yet?

Here in San Antonio the weather guy says it's been 40 years since we had the kind of cold he's predicting Friday. Might not get above freezing! Along with that we get freezing rain, snow mix.

Tally, I hope you don't lose any plants since it's been such a tough run for you. Those Brugs should be okay if you insulate them.

I have some plants that are too big to bring in, so I'll just move the Christmas lights over.

I know brugs can take a freeze or two and be okay, but here in North Texas, I know I have to cut them back and mulch just in case we have prolonged freezing weather as we will have this year. This is why my heart really goes out to you guys in the warmer zones ..... I know I have to do this each year, and you don't expect to have to. I hope there will be many good surprises for you come Spring.

I was, and remember them only too vividly !!!

oooo, the 1983 freeze, below freezing for 7 days on the island. There was a 6 month wait for a plumber. I got me a plumber now! He put in new gas jets so we have heat now. And Wed. he's coming to do the sink.

The brugs for the most part will be fine. They are all covered with buds though. The ones that survived Ike have been through a freeze before.

And in 1983 I was living in Southern California, very nice weather in the winter there.

I remember 1983...I was struggling to live on my home away from parents and the house was in Montrose. No heat, only room space heaters. No one could afford or was willing to heat main house, only room we rented. There was ice INSIDE the windows! My radiator froze and busted in my car...what a nightmare!

I seem to remember about 15 years ago we had about 2 weeks of really really cold weather. Not too sure how cold but I do remember ice hanging off the cars inside the garage. It didn't melt for days.
And a few years before that, it was colder even longer...

I don't remember '83 but I do remember '89 but wish I didn't. The kids and I sure did a lot of jigsaw puzzles tho and drank an awful lot of hot cocoa, lol
Now that I think about it, it was very nice, lol

I'll let you work my jig saw puzzles and drink my hot cocoa if I can have an early Spring.
