Comments (14)Most years I get 9b temps in the winter, but the last two winters we went below 25 for long periods. I've had my C. pulcherrima for at least 10 yrs and temps above 28 haven't done much harm. This year, mine didn't start to come back until mid April, but it's 12' tall now and has been covered with flowers. The hummers and butterflies love it. BTW, I have a volunteer that popped up in late April that is 4-5' tall and is in bloom, so if you are willing you can grow it in 9b, if you are determined, maybe in 9a. john...See MoreLots of Nyctanthes and Pride of Barbados seeds left

Comments (33)Tonya, I'm so happy your Pink Pride of Barbados made it! It should bloom this year and we'll get to see what the flowers look like. I've given up hope, at least for the little Pink Prides in pots :-( but am keeping the vigil for the thigh high ones that are in the ground even though there is not the slightest sign of life yet. The orange/red ones have been slow to start, but look like they will make a complete recovery. But I have seeds of several colors and I think it is warm enough to start them now :-) Where is Marcie?
