If you had measured a JD at Home Depot, don't know if they sell the same model, you'd likely have seen the same poor interface you got a Sears. That's part of why buying from a dealer cost more, you get better/knowledgeable interfaces. In my case I don't want any help or home repair, albeit I'd not object to a warranty repair, never had one on 40+ years of yard maintenance,the last 20 with over 3 acres of mowing, plus all the other stuff... I am about 95% Sears/Craftsman, and that included my wood shop and auto tools too. While I was disappointed in Sears dropping its extensive catalog business (guess that's been more than 20 years, some of the young types on this forum didn't have any experience with that), and was again disappointed when K-Mart (of all the companies) bought Sears. My last tractor purchase was a DYT4000 in 2005, and while it has a much more flexible frame than my still in use 1993 GT6000, it is a great lawn mower. About to replace my 20 year old Sears self propelled lawn mower with a Walmart Yardman with a Honda GVC160 engine, so that'll be a break with Sears on may years of using their lawn mowers. Sears, like all other business, have to win customers every day, but I am a lost when I read complaints about Sears in the Past...I've been and continue to be happy with their products, and couldn't care less if the salesman knows anything beyond filling out the purchase order.

Well, technically, all bananas can be eaten. Some are just better tasting than others. Basjoo is considered an ornamental type banana. Bear in mind that I do not grow Basjoo but your picture certainly looks like it could be one. Ask the guy you bought it from what color the flower is when it blooms. If he says yellow, then it's Basjoo. If he says purple, then it might be an Orinoco which could possibly produce fruit (edible)in your zone if you have a mild winter and is planted in a very protected location. Topping to reduce the height will work but you have to be careful. If you do this during the winter to make it fit into a certain space, then cut back on the watering to almost nothing. I have a friend that lives in Cleveland, TN who grows a lot of bananas, digs them up each year, and puts them under his house, in his garage, whereever. He seems to have a fair amount of success with this method. Steve

Denaliman I do not have the IR burner. This grill gets real hot and cannot image needing higher heat. The temperature readout regularly shows 750-800 degrees, but feels even higher. Cooking to fast is more of a problem than not having enough heat. I have never cooked on an IR burner so cannot comment on that aspect. My burners are easily removed so if you want an IR burner later it would take 5 minutes to replace. You remove the grates, flavor grids, and burners to clean. The grill heats up fast and when the cast burners get hot that stay hot. I really can't imagine needing more heat. With 96,000 btu's from 3 burners on high that is a lot of heat. My old Weber had 3 burners which I believe were 12,000 btus's each and it cooked fine. What you will find is that you turn the burners down after searing and cook on medium high. When you open the hood on a warm day you will not believe the heat that comes out. The 790 has the right amount of grilling area. You can really cook a lot of food on it. With the zone panels in place the temperature can be varied from burner to burner. One word of caution is the grill is really heavy. It moves easily on the wheels, but mine was a tailgate delivery so had to unpack and get it into place. If buying from a store they will set it up for you if not you must do a little assembly. My wife thought I was crazy to spend so much on a grill, but 4 years later she admits it was a worthwhile purchase.

I no longer see shoppers who look like me in Saks. LOL I used to shop there as a young married -- would haunt the sales racks mainly! I had neither time nor inclination as a young mother and don't now as a Senior. I think it was Lord Chesterfield who said something like, "Be ware of accepting invitations that require a new wardrobe." We don't move in those circles where the latest fashion is a requirement. I still like GOOD clothing, but 'classic' gives me many years' wear.
