It looks like a first winter Orchard Oriole!
It may have just hit a window, but in case it's something more serious, such as West Nile Virus-with possible danger to you, you might want to contact a rehabber.

Birds don't read the books (smile) but the two orioles that "SHOULD" (:-))))) be in your area are Baltimore and orchard. Color can vary in photos but it looks really "rich" in color... maybe a female Baltimore???? Let us know how he/she is doing.

Although he looks just like the Scott's, there has been one sighting of a Scott's Oriole in NYC so I am going to get over myself and say it's probably a male juvenile Baltimore or Orchard Oriole. It's speckles are darker and more random than the female's muted colors. I am hoping he is well before he has his adult plumage but that means we'll never know. That's fine with me provided he gets better and can go back into the wild. :D

He's doing very well. I fed him a ton of inchworms. There I was all bummed out about them being an issue this year. Who knew? Anyway he's a ballsy little guy and takes them right from my fingers, or off the leaf itself. Pretty neat really. I have also been feeding him cantaloupe and orange. He is consuming an orange slice at a rapid pace as I type this out. I am heading out to PetCo tomorrow and getting some crickets and mealworms.

The more he eats, the better he gets. I have him in my finches quarantine cage which is small enough to house him but large enough to offer him the room to move about. He's been trying to get on the lowest perch offered and succeeded to a small degree. He's still wobbly but not tipping over so violently anymore.

It is a female Baltimore I think. an orchard would be more yellow not orange. I'm pretty sure it's a female. The females I get here have black heads instead of the way the books show them. I think Kenn's birds are the same as mine.

I am also swaying towards the Baltimore. It would appear that most Orioles here have about the same diet so food is being consumed and that pleases me. She is also using the bathroom which is a great sign. The activity level is still high and she's hopping about, but continues to tip over onto her side and often gets stuck on her back. The feet and legs are healthy and strong and the tail seems fine so I am almost positive it's the wing as it's being held a little differently than expected. It would also explain the tipping over. I am going to wrap it today so it can heal right.

I live in the south end of Plymouth, MA, about 5 miles north of the Cape Cod Canal, so I probably have a similar bird population.

This photo was taken on May 2 this year of what I'm assuming is a pair of Baltimore Orioles. The female looks a lot like your bird, although a little more yellow.

I ended up binding the wing but once that was done she continued to fall over which lead me to believe there is an issue with her leg as well. Yes, it's a her and she is a female Baltimore Oriole. :) Even with her renewed energy, eating like a little pig (wax worms, mealworms, inchworms and fruits of all kinds) and using the bathroom, I was concerned about the extent of her damage and brought her to the New England Wildlife Center in Weymouth, MA. What a fabulous place. If you live near by, stop in for a visit. You can watch them taking care of the animals which are there until they are released back into the wild. Very cool.

I have successfully raised baby birds, healed wounds and mended broken wings but I have never dealt with the tipping and leg damage so I thought I would hand her over to the pros. She's going to get x-rays and all kinds of good stuff so she can be treated if that is possible. They will keep me updated and promised to do everything in their power to make her well and release her back into the wild, keeping euthanasia as the absolute last option. I am okay with that. I hate the idea of her stuck in captivity. It's up there with being mauled by my dog quite frankly.
