Can someone identify this bird?

I found this bird under a tree in the backyard. I placed it in a hanging pot up in the tree so that the cat wouldn't get it...but after a day I hadn't observed the parents visiting it at all.

So I put it in a box and fed it worms. It survived and thrived for about two weeks. It was able to gain altitude but when I put it outside it wouldn't ever move from where i put it..even if left overnight. It's tail feathers were almost non-existent as shown in the picture when I found it but at two-weeks they had grown to over two inches.

Unfortunately he flew into a window, broke his neck and died. I wish I would have done something differently or something more but I did what I could.

I've done searches online and the closest i can come up with is a Northern Waterthrush. The markings on the head look different though....however this may be because it was just a juvenile?

Anyway...if anyone with knowledge or experience could venture a guess I'd very much appreciate it.

Looks like a Brown Thrasher.

From what I can find it does look like a baby brown thrasher. So sad of the misfortune, though.

Rouan, thanks for the ID. I think my mother-in-law told me the same thing, but to me it will be the cheeseburger bird. It must know I've been complaining about it for years and went away as I haven't heard it yet this spring. It's replacement is a bird that sounds like a slow machine gun. eh..eh..eh..eh..eh This site is nice for listening to bird songs, though it may be limited to birds of North America. It isn't terribly helpful if you don't know what the bird is as you are limited to guessing. My son and I did ID the "zebra" bird at our feeder which turned out to be a black & white warbler. Aww, the poor thing. It does look like a Brown Thrasher to me too. You should have gotten it to a rehabber.

Too small for a Brown Thrasher,and beak is too small too.It looks to be a baby Wood thrush,or a Hermit,Swainson's,or Gray cheeked.They like hanging around on the ground.Its markings will change a bit,and the corners of its beak on the sides will disappear.Robins are in the Thrush family,and you can see it looks alot like a baby Robin.
