Hi, I am new to this post and need some help!

I have been a member of this website - forum for years, just for "ponding". Well, I have moved, and my hobby has changed! I have seen a blue bird for the first time in my life ~ really. I have a pair nesting in my blue bird house ~ yeah! But, they do not eat the meal worms that I leave out. I have tried an open bowl. No good, the black birds and the rain take care of that. So, I have a clear "house" with holes on either end and a small bowl inside. Nothing. I have tried live and dried worms. I have tried 3 different trees. What am I doing wrong? Help!

I am in the same situation as far as feeding goes. My pairs eggs just hatched yesterday. I have the two hole feeder with the clear sides. I have removed one side and put some dried mealworms and bluebird treat in it. I also sat a dish on the ground next to it. It's been a week and I have yet to see them go in the feeder or take from the plate, although the last few days something has been eating from the plate on the ground. I think it takes time and patients. Try removing a plexi glass side until they learn to eat from the feeder, then put it back on and they will figure it out. A few years back when I lived with my parents I had a pair eating out of the two hole feeder on a shepards hook so I know they can do it.

No gutters and need some ideas. I am new to all of this...

We don't have gutters on our house either and one thing I can say, unless your yard slopes quite steeply away from the house you will get a snow mountain under the eaves in the winter. This may not be the same problem for you depending on what your house is made of (we have wood siding that the snow starts to slump and freeze against if we do not shovel - we have had to replace the whole back side of our house this past year as the wood was rotted through in places almost to the interior walls from 30 years of this kind of thing) but I would highly recommend some sort of material that you can shovel rather than small rocks. We've put a bluestone patio on one side of our house, in part to make snow removal easier and will be putting down a bluestone walkway with drainage underneath on the other for this purpose. On the upside, we've never had our roof damaged from ice dams backing up from the gutters!

Hi audreyandmerle, Welcome to Garden Web. I'm pretty sure suckers off of a female would end up being female bushes. Could you possibly bend a stem down to the ground and pin it to get it started to root before cutting it away from the mother plant? You might try asking also at the link below.The Shrub Forum.
