TRES fledglings.......(photos)

We have soooo many TRES fleglings flying around right now. We had 24 babies in the yard (lost 2) and 12 down at the park by our house where I monitor nestboxes. One particular nestbox became very near and dear to me. It was about 35 feet off the driveway so we observed them daily. Noticed early on something wasn't right with them and it turned out we lost Dad and poor Mom was trying her best to feed the 5 little ones. Two did die but the other three made it just fine with only two days delayed fledging from other nestboxes with the same hatch date. The babies became very accustomed to us being outside near the box and would just sit and watch without being afraid of us. Mom too was more comfortable than most TRES with us being around the box. She had a certain comfort zone though that we obeyed, if we crossed the line she would divebomb but we didn't do that much as she needed to keep busy feeding since she was on her own. Here are some shots of that nestbox......

Then on my daily walks I now see baby TRES all the time. They are so dang cute sitting in the pines along the path. They are quite content to let me walk pretty close to take pics......

Feed Me!!!

This one was almost falling asleep while I was taking pics!!
