And another apology - I said "soil", but should've said "mix": I've got them growing in metro-mix 830 (peat, composted bark, perlite, vermiculite, dolomite lime, and blue chip). After comparing mine I would say it looks like their iron-deficient leaves look most like mine, but again, when it comes down to it, I can't say that any of them look anything like mine. After reading your generous comments above, and reading the back of the metro-mix bag (where it recommends a constant application of fertilizer after at most the third watering), and contemplating my own ignorance, I'm pretty much coming to the conclusion that my poor citrus are deficient in probably pretty much just about everything. Heh. I guess what took me so long to wake up was that it took me so long to hit bottom. My Meyer is six or seven years old now, and has been producing happily and abundantly in the same pot until only last year without aid of any more than a general granulated house plant fertilizer that I put in the water when I brought them in for the winter. : you can see the newer growth is even yellower than the old growth (you should be able to enlarge the images by clicking them if they don't automatically fill your brower). : older growth is yellowing out and dropping off. You can see a few fruit, also sadly yellowish. : newer growth yellower than old as well. I looked around the internet and town good and long for Vigoro citrus and avocado fertilizer but couldn't seem to find anyone who was selling it or could order it, so I picked up a box of Dr. Earth's Fruit Tree Fertilizer. It lists citrus as a primary use, so ought to address my flagrant nutrientlessness. It's quick-release too, so hopefully I'll see some results soon.

Hi. Welcome to the forum. The main problem is that you are growing a plant that needs at least 5 gallons of soil at a minimum (and 10 would be better) in a little Topsy-Turvy. I'm sorry if that sounds unkind, but it is the truth. Your plant looks stressed and likely needs to be watered more often. It is very hard to diagnose anything only from 'yellow leaves' because yellow leaves are just a symptomm of stress and the stress can have many causes. Run through this checklist and see which you think might apply to your plant. Yellow leaves might indicate.... The plant is too dry. The plant is too wet. The plant is rootbound and needs a larger container. The plant got too hot and dry previously even if it is wet now. When the lower leaves yellow on an upright tomato plant, often that occurs because the upper leaves are shading the lower leaves and the leaves cannot get the sunlight they need. This is a natural part of the growth process and the lower yellow leaves will drop off. They're old and have done their job. I don't know if/how this happens with tomatoes in a Topsy Turvy. Yellowing leaves can be an early symptom of a bacterial or fungal infection. Normally if this is the case you see some black, brown or purplish spotting. If the yellow leaves are accompanied by brown leaf spots with concentric circles, it could be Early Blight. It could be a sign various plant pests might be damaging the plants. Check the underside of leaves for spider mites, aphids of psyllids. You might notice small bumps on the main stem of your plant. Those are adventitious roots. They are somewhat common and are not necessarily considered "bad". It depends on the reason you're seeing them. For example, if young transplants are held too long in their pots instead of being transplanted into the ground, these little bumps indicate the plant is stressed and needs to be placed in the ground. When these adventitious roots appear above ground on plants in the ground, it generally means they are feeling hungry or thirsty and are trying to create more roots to feed themselves. On the other hand, when you bury a tomato stem deeply in the soil, adventitious roots form of that stem which gives you a stronger and healthier plant. Combined with the advententious roots, your specific yellow leaves likely indicate the plant is stressed from having such a small area for root growth to occur, and is having trouble taking up enough nutrition and water to enable it to grow. The sparse foliage on the plant indicates lack of fertility. If it were my plant, I'd feed and water it regularly but I also would move it to a larger container. Topsy Turvys are, IMHO, a triumph of marketing over common sense. Dawn

I was told this subforum here would have the best odds for some knowledgeable folks to know what's going on. I am growing Jalapenos and Serrano peppers from seed in a greenhouse in Spain. Up to a certain height I have them in the GH and later (when the sun is not so intense any more, in late fall) I put them on the sunroof under real sun. In the GH I have two 300W LED grow lights. "In principle" the peppers are fine and they just recently started to actually produce their first peppers. This is so amazing! However, even if all the plants are growing under virtually the same conditions, temperatures and lights, SOME of my plants are very pale and yellow. (On the picture I put up you can barely see it, but rest assured the circled plant in the middle is very pale compared to the others). SOME of my plants are also those very dark/rust-colored veins (see pictures) which usually appear on yellow leaves. And SOME of my plants have gotten entirely dark leaves (like in the small image), here I am not sure whether this is "sooty mold" since I just recently discovered I have a whitefly infestation. (I am already fighting the infestation with Neem oil, insecticidal soap etc.) The interesting thing is that also those plants I put up on the sunroof are not getting greener, they stay yellow. I am feedings organic only (actually bought a special organic hot pepper fertilizer) and I am also using CalMag (calcium/magnesium). But not matter what, the yellow ones won't become green. You will also notice that the yellow plant I circled, the leaves are more "crumpled" than the others and they're bending inwards and upwards on the side too. Most of my plants (even the green ones) show some "crumpling" but not as strong as the yellow one and none is bending up on the sides I think. The baffling thing is that some of the plants look awesome and grow like crazy...while the next one over might have all dark leaves...or the entire plant has yellow leaves. I also want to mention that we went through several months of extreme heat, and in June/July pretty much all growth has halted due to extreme temperatures...so I wonder whether this has something to do with it. Edit: Took the picture in the greenhouse late afternoon under PINK grow lights, so I had to manually color-correct the picture. You would likely better see that the circled plant looks really yellow/pale if I had taken them out and made pictures in day-light. But you get the idea hopefully. Thanks!

I have loads of them inside my tent mostly bugs and flies, it doesnt look good. I would definitely buy some kind of powder for that. And try not to over fertilise as it won t do much good to your plant. My main problem was and still is bad soil, so you could provide us with some kind of picture of your soil, and as said before more pictures where we can see actul plant.
