Mine weren't doing too much as far as growing, but I started spraying the leaves with some Superthrive diluted in water. Man- in 2 days the leaves grew darker and started to reach towards the sky. They grew rapidly, and now most of my brugs are blooming. I spray them every week. We're in zone 7, it's been hot here- in the 90's during the day and in the 60's at night. Cooler temps trigger blooms too. I water every day. Deep watering is best. best wishes for blooms to come!

It is possible you have a variety that will not mature fruit without a wasp that does not live in MD (or most places for that matter) to pollinate them. If you have another location in mind, you might want to plant a known variety in that location and see what happens with your current tree. I have removed a 10ish year old fig tree from the ground. The thickest root I encountered was about an inch thick, and it was still very pliable. There were relatively few roots that were 1/2+ thick. The root system is rather fibrous and there are many thin roots rather than a few large roots. If you want to move your tree and the tree hasn't broken dormancy, use a ditch spade to cut the roots in a ring 18-24" in diameter and replant in the spot you want. Keep the roots moist while out of the ground and stake when you have finished planting it until the roots anchor the tree sufficiently. ~james

Yeah, it gets to be a lot indoors, but luckily my family doesnt mind too much (well they mind, but they know how much it means to me!) and my dog is pretty good with not eating any plants (but she does love to get into the garbage). I will definitely post some indoor pics when the time comes! Thanks Island! Yup! I live in NYC! Some plants are in pots, some are in the ground. A few, like the palms in the ground, survive the winter with some protection (I just put some christmas lights and a garbage bin over them). Others like the elephant ears and bananas are easy to bring in and store for the winter. Some of the plants cant be dug up (like the coconut palm and tropical palms) so those are in pots and get put by a sunny window! The plumerias go dormant so they are pretty easy to keep indoors, but the large one might not fit indoors this year! The Passionvine, cannas, and ginger are hardy. The purple plants under the Elephant ears are called Purple Heart. They will be evergreen in your climate which is a huge plus! They look good up until temperatures get into the upper 20s, then they die back. They are hardy to zone 8 and up, but they come back for me since they are in a good microclimate. They are a little invasive, but easy to control and I think they are worth growing for sure! Thanks for looking everyone! -Alex
