Rebecca, I've been ordering about 5,000 from New York Worms on a monthly basis. They don't have the large size, but their mediums have been fine. I keep them at room temperature and keep them fed and they grow to large within a week or so. They are keeping my blues very happy! I'm paying about $49, including shipping, and the worms arrive within just a couple of days.

You might consider Southeastern Insectaries. They are in Perry, GA. I have been getting 10,000 from them every two weeks since the shortage began. I have nothing but praise for them.

Has anyone ever tried Grubco.com. They are $6.50 per 1,000 plus shipping. I have ordered from them for about four yrs. No problems. They ship on Mon., Tues., and Wednesdays.

Nancy, I used Grubco for years with great satisfaction but all of a sudden their shipping charges were outrageous. The problem for me was that when I ordered from them online, their page would never let you know exactly how much shipping was going to cost--then I'd find out after shipment exactly what the total cost was. Several times the cost of shipping exceeded the cost of the worms! I e-mailed them about their process and their response was that basically if I couldn't afford the shipping then I should stop ordering from them--so I did! I was disappointed because I'd ordered from them for years, but am now very happy with New York Worms and there are no surprises at how much my shipment will cost.

I use www.cccricketfarm.com They are a small company located in the Northeast and have excellent mealworms that they grow themselves. I live in MA, so shipping is not bad, but I believe they have an option for outside the region where you can chance taking regular ground instead of expedited shipping. NY Mealworms aren't bad, but they don't grow them themselves as far as I know, so they are not as fresh. As long as it is not too cold or too hot, they would travel fine- they're pretty hearty. Good luck- I love seeing the beautiful bluebirds return :)

I live in the Atlanta area and have been ordering them from Premium Crickets in Thomson, GA. Great because they arrive quickly and in good condition. The owner, Mike, has always been really helpful. My first order this season was 1000 medium mealworms. They arrived in great condition - good size and 90% or more alive. The second order contained at least that many live ones as well, but they were a little smaller. I'm including the link.

Visited Grubco today, 5000 picked up locally was $20. Healthy looking and Dale the owner had plenty,the rush hasn't hit yet. I highly recommend them the setup he has is first class over 5000 large tubs in operation I believe Dale told me.

Please try them for yourself. He used to ship USPS now goes with UPS, claims he gets faster and guarnteed delivery.

I got 10,000 medium mealworms and 1,000 superworms at fluker (800-735-8537 )... including the shipping and handling for a two day delivery, i paid a total of $78.. not bad , I'd say! I ordered them 3/30 so not sure what their supplies are like now.. but definately worth checking into.. they have a website too...

I just got my 2nd shipment from Premium Crickets in Thomson, GA. I'm raising my own and have beetles already. Since you live in GA you might give them a try.
