Trying to posts pictures -- HELP!

Fellow bird-lovers, I have tried posting pictures here, but apparently, they are too big for the GardenWeb to post. When I click "compress for attaching" on the smallest setting it is still too big. Can anyone help me?

on my computer i use windows photo gallery. when i right click on a picture in the gallery i get a menu and click on resize, in the box that comes up i click on custom and clear the size box and type in a new size. for posting on here i usually type in say 350 or 375. when i get ready to post on here then i hit the browse button and it takes me to my picture or my recent documents and select my picture and hit the save and then post on the nature web page.

Most people just upload their photos to a free photo hosting website like Picasa Web Albums or Photobucket, then just copy/paste the photo html link on the post entry box. When you preview the message the link will display as a photo and you can display as many as you like on one post with wrap around text.
Here's a photo I took yesterday of a rare Nicobar Pigeon in a Thailand park. Although it was a tame one they are found on remote wooded islands in the south.

I like Picasa Web Albums because you can choose from five sizes to post links, has slideshows, shows animal location, and if you double click on any posted photo it will take you to the original album where you can watch a slideshow of the entire album if you wish.

Voices in the Dark is a really pretty Shooter hybrid. It's listed as a "sev" so that says not much as far as winter hardiness in your zone. I know your winter was colder then normal, but just my guess is it's not winter kill that's the problem. Could be cultural. Pot it up in some really good quality and well drained potting mix if it looks like you might be going to loose it and see if the change in growing medium helps any. If you dig it up you could also get a peek at what's going on with the roots...Maryl

Hi Clara, After you post a Hotmail code and enter it into the box, hit return so that the curser is at the bottom of the mumbers and under the mess of letter and such. Then go back to your photbucket (Other window) or what ever you are using, then copy and paste ..then go back ( to Plumie window) under the mess of numbers and make sure the curser it there.. (bottom left side under mess) left click on that curser so that it is in the right spot then right click and paste.. continue until you have loaded all you want. Then you can rewiew and see ur pics.. hope this made sense.. : ) Take care, Laura

Photobucket is what I use. Just open up an account (it's free), and follow the directions for getting the picture from your computer, to the website. Then for this website you'll use the HTML code. For most other websites, you'll use the [IMG] code. All you need to do it click on the link in photobucket and it automatically copies the link. Then you just need to hit control V to paste it here.

Abbigail, What a treasure! Be sure to get as much information as you can about them. Especially the name of the maker and maybe even why they were made and given-a birthday or wedding gift. I would write as much information as I could gather and put it in maybe a pocket sewn to the back of the quilt. Pick your aunt's brain about them while you have a chance. I've waited too long to get information that goes with a person. I think of all the work someone did and they were headed to to the trash. WOW Enjoy your find! Thanks for sharing. Sally
