Is it the type of feeder that has glass/plastic panels on both sides? Can you push them up a bit?

If you can positively identify the exact issue of why the seeds aren't dropping, it might be possible to make slight modifications to the feeder, ie: open the port(s) slightly by some means or remove small portions of the obstruction until the seeds do drop properly.
I've had several bird feeders (usually cheap ones) of different designs over the years that looked great but didn't work worth a flip because of some issue such as you're having. As I recall, I managed to easily modify each one slightly so that they all worked as they were supposed to.

TXSkeeter - if I knew WHY the seeds weren't falling, I would have a better idea of how to fix it. I have no idea why they aren't falling. They behave this way when the seeds are dry and the weather has been dry for days.

I tried buying seeds from different sources, but the same problem existed.

This is not a cheap feeder. It was working fine and then it that one day, the seeds stopped dropping down into the opening.

catherinet - the feeder has thick plastic sides but there are no "moving" parts.

Sometimes, even though it seems like there are no moving parts, you can force those side panels up a little.........
I'm assuming the top comes up, to fill it? .......try pulling them up from that top part too.

Or maybe there are seed types in the mix that nobody wants and they just accumulate at the bottom?

Since you seem to be frustrated anyway are you in a mood to try something different? Depending upon the size of the bird feeder. first put in a hand-full or two of something larger and round like whole pecans or whole walnuts and then the seed. The smaller seed trickle down between the larger round fillers and don't stick together so badly. If this don't work, eat the larger nuts while pondering what to do next.

if the seed get wet they will stick together I use a small branch to break them up

Maybe there was a twig or foreign object in a batch of seed and it got caught. Something like that could be causing the seed to hang up. I think you need to empty the feeder and take a close look, if possible.

I have the same problem with my Squirrel buster bug feeder. even changed the seed to smaller sunflower and safflower. I is fine when i first put seed in but after birds eat what is intially in there it doesn’t refill and my birds go away. I am tired of having to shake it down every day. so what is the problem. i bought ever for this feeder. Weather guard, seed tray, 8 foot poll. And it is not being hit by a sprinkler. What can i do? Any suggestions are needed.

I think you can push the door up a bit or you can replace it with automatic feeders. They are very convenient and easy to buy.

I am having the same problem with the seed not dropping down. As I live in the NW I asssumed that the seed was becoming wet. i have a dome over the feeder and it still gets stuck. i become frustrated as well at

continually having to move the seed down manually. I have noticed that is the seed that

is next to the wall of the feeder is what becomes stuck. It is suggested that the plastic wall has becomes rough and is not allowing

passage of the seed to move. I have tried scrubbing the feeder and the equipment with soapy water and bleach with a thourough washing afterward to no avIl!

Sorry, this keyboard is doing its own thing. My feeder is brand new

same thing here, have to shake the seed feeder to fill gaps where no seeds are. It was an expensive finch tube feeder with several slit ports. I think seeds are too light weight. They are fresh seeds and not wet. I have no solution to the problem.
