LANDSCAPE DESIGNSee 5 Unexpected Ways to Use Vines
Vines can grow over slopes, trail off pergolas and add seasonal color to the garden
Full Story*** (I searched the archives before posting this. The exact question was posted, and a million people replied with other irrelevant trumpet vine comments or questions, and I never found an answer. So I'm hoping my new Texas friends can help.) ***
I just received several baby trumpet vine plants, two of them with stem/root as thick as my finger (not so baby). I want to plant them this week, two in my gumbo clay in the Mid-Cities and two in my grandmother's sandy loam in the Pineywoods. They're bare root with what I consider a rather measly set of tiny roots off of mama's root sucker.
Yes, I know its painfully hot, and its not the best time to do this. But this is the time of year someone decided to give them to me.
And yes, I know they "don't need any help". But I'm still a bit new at this, and I rather not go to the trouble of starting these just to overlook some simple technique or product or click-of-the-heels that would have produced better results.
And yes, I know its terribly invasive.
So, aside from all the warnings, does anyone have any tips?
