Does anybody recognize this cross vine?

I have been trying to find an ID for this Bignonia capreolata for years without any luck. I've never seen one with this exact coloration anywhere else and would love to know more about it. I traded some species gladiolus with a local nursery for this plant but the nursery folks could only tell me that it's a cross vine. Does anybody recognize it?

I am not a fan of cross vines. Too many are a washed out orangey color. This one is absolutely the most b-yoot-i-full color I have ever seen in a cross vine. I hope you have take cuttings so you will never lose it.

OMG, I had no idea those little leaves that have spread from woods into the lawn are first year basal rosettes of taller second/third year taller plants with white flowers! I spent one entire day in May pulling the taller plants with white flowers from under tree canopy on 2 wooded side & back yards at my fathers. I've been pulling up the small things I thought were some wild ginger from around plantings trying to hold it back but didn't know the two were connected until I looked on "invasive.org" and saw the growth progression from year to year. Unfortunately, I can't take a blow torch to it like they show people doing in eradication programs from natural areas...but I'd sure like to. Bet the miseravle Chinese Wisteria vines and literal trees would survive! It's impossible to keep one piece of property clear of all these invasives when the neighborhood and entire county are full of them. I can't help myself, though. It's a 5 year process to rid an area of garlic mustard seed bank in an intermediate infestation but after 5 years trying to clear the area around my father's property it'll still be all over the woods and neighbor's properties. Here's a link to photo of young nettle foliage. The veining on the leaves comes from basal center of each leaf. Veining on foliage in your last photo looks like they all come from center vein and extend out to leaf margins. Don't know if different nettles have variety of vein patterns, though. Check some roots of larger plants if you haven't already...the thick "white carrot" tap root might be a further clue to at least rule out Pokeweed. Here is a link that might be useful:

First, you must find a way to keep the squirrels off the house. You will continue to have the problem until the squirrels are denied access. Common Access Points: 1. A tree limb that is overhanging the roof or within a few feet of the roof. 2. Ivy or other vines climbing the exterior walls. 3. A trellis to close to the house is a squirrel ladder. 4. Electric power wires. The critter climbs the utility pole and gets onto the wires and then may have access to your roof depending on the details of your installation. In our town, the power company lays out the distrubition transformer and wires (on the pole) in a way that discourages squirrels. However, in some installations, the squirrels do manage to get on the insulated service entrance wires without electrocuting themselves. 5. Wood siding or wood downspouts are climable. 6. Ancillary buildings nearby. Most building codes call for a minimum separation between unattached building such as sheds for fire protection purposes, but if you are ina rural area, you building may have been constructed differently. I've seen many old farm houses with a smoke house or utility shed located a few feet from the back door. If the shed is climable, it is a stepping stone for the squirrels. In our neighborhood, we have red (fox) and gray squirrels. Our experience has been that it is the little fiesty red squirrels who are the most persistent, do the most damage, and the most difficult to evict. My next door neighbor was invaded by red squirrels. They entered his house by chewing a hole through the roof next to the chimney. He made repairs and removed two trees that were too close to the house. The problem was solved once the squirrels were denied access to the roof.

Thanks everybody, it's a real head scratcher alright. It isn't Tangerine Beauty, I don't think, here are side by side views of them. TB is on the left, my vine's on the right. TB has a solid yellow throat while mine has the yellow in stripey streaks. The deep pink is streaked through the corolla, too.

Thank again for the suggestions and comments.,When I mentioned it to my friend today she asked me if it wasn't 'Pink Lemonade'. I googled Bignonia 'Pink Lemonade' and came up empty handed, so to speak, but one of the links had a nice picture of {{gwi:359873}} and I'm almost convinced that that is what this vine is. Thanks so much for all the suggestions, I do appreciate your efforts!

I will be sticking cuttings after it blooms, anybody want their name on one?

Nigella, does yours rebloom to a fair degree?? 'Jekyll' throws out a few blooms for much of the season after the initial Spring flush. I had Jekyll at my previous home and don't recall it having that reddish-pink coloration. More orangey.

I know there is a red form that is sometimes available here called 'Shalimar Red.' Also, a couple of days ago, I saw a really nice form at Lowe's called 'Dragon Lady.' I had never seen this one before. It resembled your pic, but the thing I really noted was the strong fragrance. As I recall, 'Jekyll' is not fragrant.

Dave, it does rebloom and sometimes fairly heavily, no fragrance that I've noticed but it is right beside Ilex opaca which is blooming now, the fragrance tends to "dwarf" any others. I'll check.

Today at Home Depot in Mobile (off Airport(, this plant was on display. I passed it by and then turned as I recogized it from the picture listed here. It was sort of pink-purple with the streaks of yellow. It was listed as a "Tangerine Beauty - Bignomia" Just thought I would let you know. The plant seemed to be in good condition.

This looks like a "Dragon Lady" not a "Tangerine Beauty."

It looks just like the "Shalimar Red" Crossvine I planted in Fall (it was a Home Depot clearance) and I still have the tag. Here is a pic, sorry the quality isn't great, it was foggy when I took it. Ok, so I just realized I have no idea how to post a picture on this forum. If y'all will tell me how I'll post it as soon as I can.
