OT .......Older dog and heat stroke?

mikeandbarb

I posted about him digging which he did before but only in two places which I let him have to stay cool but this year he's digging in three more areas. He does have something like panic attacks when I'm at home and make him go out for the day so I can clean house but most of the time he's inside only to be put out if we're going to be gone for a few hours or longer. When he is outside and we're home he'll stand at the back door whinning, I'm a push over and let him back in.

He is 13 years old and I'm worrying that he might be having trouble with the heat this year. Saturday we were gone for the day and when we got home we let him inside, he threw up three times, it was clear. He also does not seem to drink water from the bucket outside but waits till he comes in, at least I haven't seen him drink from the bucket outside and he always runs for the water bowl inside. He's not over weight but is a big dog weighting 90 lbs, rotty/lab mix.

Do you think I need to be concerned about him having a heat stroke?

TIA, Barb
