You should host a public orchid sale by inviting all of the orchid societies in San Diego County. Just pick a Saturday 9am to 3pm, have the plants priced somehow. Plants with a valid name tag could go for $10-20 minimum and those without $3-5 and it all depends on how healthy they are. Blooming plants you can probably double those amounts. If you want help with the pricing or other information I'm sure someone from one of the societies would volunteer to help if you give them a few free plants. Let us know what happens!!!

There are a few online sellers who offer a bulk price for the flats, but I'm wondering if the savings will be eaten up by shipping costs. Unfortunately, though there are many home-canners left, there aren't the numbers there used to be, and there's only one manufacturer of the lids. They basically have the market sewn up. I've had good luck at True-Value watching for end-of-the-season sales (usually sometime in August) when they knock the price way down. Then I hoard the lids until next season. It's still well-within the use-by date. I know Bi-Mart, Big Lots and similar discounters often offer good end-of-the-season closeouts. I meant to add that I use mine all the time (all stored in the same drawer), which means it is all rotating through and wears evenly. If the ones at the bottom haven't been used and washed quite as often, I'm not noticing any difference in wear. If I did, I could easily move the less worn to the top and get them evened out. Here is a similar look from Macy's - Cambridge Ascot: This one is on sale ($80 for 65 pcs.), but not a lot else is because the one day sale and July 4th sales just ended, but by Labor Day and again before the holidays, they will have a lot of flatware sets on sale. I bought one for my college son around Labor Day and there were lots of sets that were iin the half off category. Good time to look so you'll be ready to buy as soon as you see them on sale again.
