Comments (9)Hi Guys! Sorry to be so late checkin' in! We're good down here, got our rain after the temps. were above freezing. It has been a rough winter. Most everything was killed down to the ground, I'm not complaining, I know you have that every winter. We had hard freezes in Dec., Jan., and Feb. The only thing I have blooming are violas. I wish now that I had planted snapdragons and petunias last fall. You know when you get lemons, you should make lemonade, so while everything is cut down, if I can get a couple of days above 70, I'm going to pressure wash the fences. I took down most all the free standing trellises and arbors, and moved to the driveway, where I will pressure wash then give them a coat of cedar stain before returning to the garden. I've got a gazillion poppies up and growing, so looks like it will be a good year if spring ever gets here. Maybe this winter will set the chili thrips back on their heels for awhile. Comments (13)1Kgrace345, I kept going back and forth pondering over getting a Presto canner or the All American...I really could have gotten the Presto many years earlier, but I wanted to save my money and just wait. I have two mirro canners that I have had since I was married in 1970 that my grandmother gave to me that she used and they were literally falling apart. The handles were gone, and they no longer had handles to replace them, so I was having to lift the pot by the hot metal...last year I burned my hand really bad...but I kept on canning. I just bought those new gloves made out of well, what ever that is...my brain just backfired...I hate when that happens...darn it. My husband (behind my back) took them both to the dump...that made me really MAD because they were my grandmothers, and I would have like to have kept them for old times sake, anyways. But, he bought me this new one today..and I just about had a flying flip when he said we were going to town to get one...I got ready faster than lighting! I understand how you would still feel like you were a proud parent of your All American, lkgrace!! LOL If my husband wasn't looking at me on the way home I would have petted mine...LOL!!!...See MoreOh My Gosh . . . My DH Just Bought Me . . .
Comments (28)What a wonderful story! And congratulations on your lovely new furniture. I can hardly wait to see them in your home. Your story reminds me of something similar that happened to me about 15 years ago. I drove past an antique store every day on the way to work, and kept admiring a maple corner hutch in their window. I told my husband about it and said that I wanted to run in and check the price when I had a chance. But a few days later it was sold. I told my husband I was kicking myself for not making it in sooner, because I had really loved it. The next day when I got home from work, it was all set up in the dining room, with my dishes all arranged on the shelves. Turns out he was the one who had bought it! It was such a lovely thoughtful thing to do - it made me cry! What a guy!...See Moreloris
