LATE planted tomato - need some answers please

Hello all,

I am looking at a tomato from Johnny's Seeds that I want to try this season. I do not have the seeds yet. I want to start seedlings and then plant out in a container sometime in mid-July. Anyone here in Zone 6 or 7 have any experience with late planted tomato?? I love, love, love to experiment. This particular tomato is 78 day maturity from 5-6 week transplants. I can get a decent transplant in 4 weeks when I pre-sprout seeds on paper towel. I am in Central Virginia and I usually do not get first frost until early/mid-November. I can keep tomato plants alive about 2 weeks after frost with cloche and fabric bonnets at night if necessary.

If you have planted tomato after July 15 and gotten some fairly good results please post with info on what -if anything- you did to boost your plants.

If you are not in Zone 6 or 7 please don't tempt me with your great results. I need help from someone with similar weather conditions.

Thanks bunches,

DL
