What's up Doc????

Welllll, Pepe (my yorkie) was out helping me cut back the Turk's Cap bed the other day and got bored, so he was doing some sniffing around and came upon these little boogers:

This is in my backyard that is enclosed by a 3 foot picket fence (1 1/2 inch spaces between the pickets). And not a WORD about the weeds in the picture from ANY of you, LOL.

Well, I shut Pepe in the house and got out an old bird cage and took the bottom off of it and put it over the bunny nest to protect them from the vicious Pepe who would, no doubt have "loved" them to death. Every night, before bed, I lock up the doggie door and go out and remove the bird cage from over the nest so that Momma can come and feed them. Then first thing in the morning, I go out and cover them up again so that I can open the doggie door. I've been doing this for about 10 days now and am hoping that tonight will be the last night of it. They were out of the hole but still in the cage when I got home from Houston this afternoon, so hopefully, Momma will find them a new home now :). Oh yeah, there's actually 4 of them in that tiny hole.

How cute, we have wild bunnies too and once and awhile I see one run across the back yard.
BTW Have you been stealing my weeds they look just like mine LOL. You want some more cause I'll gladly give u more.

Uh, gee Barb, that's awful kind of you ;). If I had room for one more weed in my yard, I'd sure take you up on that!.....NOT. LOL, just got done mowing the weeds and will begin the attack on them first thing in the morning :).

I'm with graywings in this one - in the same vein as why do we keep papers on cars we don't have anymore. For important documents you could invest in a fireproof file box - most of which are rated to protect paper (burns at 415F), but your CDs and computer media will fail at much lower temps. Obviously, one reason for off site backups. I'm safety and preservation conscious to a point, and think those items in my SD box really belong there, but I've always found either a labeled file folder in a desk drawer or a lidded computer paper box on the top shelf of a closet adequate for much of the "important" paper that would otherwise clutter up my life.

Yes we do have to contend with PBS funding ( and really, you can do that by buying a CD for yourself or someone) Double bonus that way. Martin Clunes (Doc Martin) has had to work hard at pitching his ideas. He has had a stop and start career but we can say "huzzah" to him for his persistance because his talent and writing have saved him. Stacy, are you sure it's a cyst? When I had my hyst, many years ago, I had a blood vessel fill with blood and they thought they might have to go in again and tend to it. But, they also waited to see if it would dissipate on it's own and thankfully it did, but it took weeks. Your body absorbs the blood. I can't believe they would leave an ovary in you that had any indication of a cyst when they did your surgery. If they did, shame on them. And, about the Mammo. Please don't fear them. They may not be the most pleasant thing you've ever done, but on a scale of 1 to 10 on the medical type tests and procedures, it's no more than a 2 at best. I'm saying that and I have very sensitive breasts. I've been off of caffeine for over 25 years because mine were so sore, swollen and sensitive. So please believe me when I tell you not to fear a Mammo. It's a piece of cake and you'll be out of there in 5 minutes. No biggie. It's just the fear of the unknown that has got you upset. That's a natural emotion. But seriously, you will laugh at how fast and easy it is.

Yes, the whole "Vista is a horrible monster" thing was way overblown. It wasn't MS's finest moment, but led to a lot of ill considered piling on. Kristi, they are adorable. I used to have so many cotton tails, and we could sit at the breakfast table and watch the babies play in and out of the cannas and other flowers. Ah, but the coyote must have put a stop to everything - I haven't seen one in over a year now. I miss them.

We have some that have been born under the Vitex, if I don't shut the back gate they come in and still play around me while I'm working outside.
When I get ready to quit for the day I have to shoo them back out, lol

They are so cute.......but you won't like them so much later in the year when they're eating your plants!

Bev, I know. I have mixed feelings about them. In the past, when my black lab (Lucy) would bring home baby rabbits like they were HER babies, I would raise them until they could fend for themselves and then release them into the wild in a friend's pasture with good feed supply and good cover. Since these are so young, and Mom is still coming to take care of them, I won't be able to do that and will probably pay the price. But I can't just let them die :).

I got a nest in my front flower bed oval, also. I just left it alone, as the dogs can't go in the front. (smile) Once when they found a nest after being in the kennel for a week, it was not pretty.

Cute, aren't they? We have so many bunnies running around our neighborhood, it isn't funny. I wouldn't hurt them, but I have seen some that have been runover by cars. I don't know why, but almost every Easter morning, we'll see at least one dead rabbit. I kid my husband and tell him I'm going to tell the boys the Easter bunny got ran over last night delivering all those candy filled eggs!

We had a bunny start digging a nest a few weeks ago in the native plant garden at our school. One of the ladies in the office said when she was walking in one morning, she must have scared it because it scurried out of the hole and ran across the street back into the woods. It left a good sized hole, but we filled it back in. I figured with all the kid traffic and adult traffic picking up all those kids around there, it wasn't a very good place for baby bunnies who would surely hop out in front of one of the cars during pick up or drop off and get run over in front of the students.

Okay - enough about bunnies getting run over.

I've seen plllleeennnttyy bunnies in my area. Many brought into the house by Ernie, who carries them by the scruff of the neck like a momma bunny even tho he is a male cat. I carry them back out again, by the scruff of the neck, and put them across the street in a cat and dog free zone.
