Stacy - Mammograms aren't bad, honestly. And if you are getting a digital mammogram it's even easier. With a digital mammogram they don't have to compress the breast as much as with the old ones. The first time I had a digital image I even asked the technician if they were doing it right because they barely compressed the tissue. It was an amazing difference.

hmmm mcmann now I know what to ask when we get in there do you do the digital kind that sounds great to me....I am very nervous...pain does not = me!! Stacy

I think some women are more sensitive to the "Vice Grip" than others. I just breathe and think of something else for the few seconds it takes. Totally, it's probably under 2 minutes of squeezing. It's a small price to pay and well worth doing.

I'm sorry about your trouble Stacy, but good for you for keeping up with doctor appts. and following up properly.

I'm due too. I don't mind them. They aren't my favorite thing to do, but I consider them a necessary part of life. Much easier for me than going to a dentist.

Stac.I have never had a mamogram that was painful. I have never understood why someone would think that way especially when it is a life saving thing...some women are just whiners and would whine about anything...I had breast cancer and had the really really difficult mamo's and even then...it was not something that makes you writhe in pain...

Be cool about it...A mamo is no big deal.

I had my mamo last fall, and it wasn't painful at all. All I ever feel is the pressure, no pain.

Mammograms are a piece of cake. Wait til you have to get a colonoscopy. Now those are REALLY fun!

Mammos aren't painful Stacy! Really. Just seems odd the way they have you lean outward while they got ya by the boob! LOL

I don't know if a blood filled cyst can be treated the same as an ordinary cyst, but I found the link below that says Progesterone Cream can be helpful. I'd ask the doctor first though. I wondered if PC would help because it has helped me so much with my fibroid pain - so I googled it and found the link.

I had my mamo a couple of weeks ago. I was surprised that it didn't hurt like it usually does. I got a good report, too! Now, my poor mom, she is small, and every time they do her's, she hurts BADLY for several months. It's like they put her rib out of place. And she hasn't had one since they put her pace maker in, because it's on the same side as the rib they always manage to make hurt so bad.

You will do fine with the mamo, tho. As for the cyst, I'll keep you in my prayers.

Well I will waited alll day since yesterday to tell you I cancelled my mammogram....I had worked myself up sick over it. But it is reschedulded for monday at 9:30 and I will go I promise. I just wish they had given me more info on the cyst-filled with blood the size od a tennis ball....what are the chances of it rupturing how painful and they said get to a the er asap if it does...so will probably call my doc back with ?'s tomorrow...my stupid body.....thanks for all the support and sorry I am such a baby butt...Stacy

Awww... I'm sorry you are having such a hard time.. sometimes we need to concentrate on one thing at a time and obviously you have been thru alot. I know how you feel.. my body has not cooperated with me for several years. It's frustrating. But you are not a baby! You are acting totally normal.

Stacy, are you sure it's a cyst? When I had my hyst, many years ago, I had a blood vessel fill with blood and they thought they might have to go in again and tend to it. But, they also waited to see if it would dissipate on it's own and thankfully it did, but it took weeks. Your body absorbs the blood. I can't believe they would leave an ovary in you that had any indication of a cyst when they did your surgery. If they did, shame on them.

And, about the Mammo. Please don't fear them. They may not be the most pleasant thing you've ever done, but on a scale of 1 to 10 on the medical type tests and procedures, it's no more than a 2 at best. I'm saying that and I have very sensitive breasts. I've been off of caffeine for over 25 years because mine were so sore, swollen and sensitive. So please believe me when I tell you not to fear a Mammo. It's a piece of cake and you'll be out of there in 5 minutes. No biggie. It's just the fear of the unknown that has got you upset. That's a natural emotion. But seriously, you will laugh at how fast and easy it is.

I don't like Mammograms but I look at them this way:

I can stand anything for twenty or thirty seconds. Just make sure you get a good picture the first time. And, as unpleasant as mammos are, they are nothing, I'm sure to breast cancer.
