I think it should be ok. How fast did you thaw it? I'm not even sure that makes a difference. You know, I have three beautiful Queen Elizabeths, two Arizonas, and four Double Delights, all of which came in body bags from Orchard Supply Hardware's "bargain bin" looking like a dog's breakfast. Those got me started on my garden 5 years ago, and they are among my best performers and my prettiest roses. Unlike several MUCH more expensive bareroot roses I've gotten from J & P who, once put into the ground, begin to act like Isolde in the last act of the opera, dying for no apparent reason. I hope your DD lives on and gives you many years of happiness. She is a marvelous rose.

If it is finished any bucket or bag will do. It is soil now it does need air but not all that much. A loose lid will be fine. Curt :-) I gotta disagree with the above Curt comment. No vermi-compost is ever...nor should it be..."finished" if finished means all the biology of the "dirt" is gone. The purpose of VC is to improve the condition of dirt NOT in a vermicomposting system that really is poorer soil than it will be after the VC is introduced to it. If active VC is integrated with soils and plant containers, the VC is just being relocated. If we were wormin' just to play with worms and/or make landscape filler, I would be doing something more constructive.....like trying to keep up all the ways vermicomposting sometimes morphs into "earth-moving" endeavors....or garbage disposal alternatives. As for storage limits, etc, the best place for it is in flowerbeds, and on lawns, and raised garden beds so it can continue working its magic. I only store it for short periods and when it's so cold outside I don't wanna go out to mess with it. (Like now) Chuckiebtoo

well, I have come to the conclusion that if I can't pick it up and carry it by myself, then it isn't a project that I want to mess with. and that goes for just about anything in my life, at this moment...even and especially my man!!! the table top stays, right where it is.. now, whether I want to relocate the guy..that remains to be seen...he can carry himself. if things don't shape up, then I will be going solo and life could be much less complicated, in short order. it's been a hellatious past few months and the only thing keeping me sane, is the painting. I can either go to my instructor's, or paint at home, on my own. it's peaceful, calming and soothing..not to mention a feeling of satisfaction, with every project, being fired. today I worked on 3 different things. winter scenes, with snow and chickadees.... I don't have my studio set up now..it was all disassembled, when I thought the kids were going to move back home. then, I knew that would be a disaster, so they aren't but things are all boxed up and piled along the entire hallway and in the front room.. I need to yet again, set it back up. gawd!! is there a light at the end of this tunnel?? not to worry..I'm a tough ol' stewing hen and won't be deterred by it all. it just makes me work harder, for the future I want. one day...I know I will post here about a place, either on or overlooking the water of Puget Sound.. maybe that's a pipe dream but if I know me...it's more of a premonition to the future. for now, I just take one day at a time and I even learned that if I get my bed made in the morning..that's the first accomplishment of the day and to be satisfied with that... so, I make the bed and try to keep pace with my intentions. I'm studying the color wheel now... sure is a lot more to it, if one wants to put special time and effort into it. I know the color wheel..who doesn't? but the nitty gritty of it is actually an in depth lesson. I'm here, at the local library and will be posting again, in a day or so.... thanks for the input and suggestions..I took it to heart and appreciate you seeing that project for what it was.... and thankful you shared the fact that it would be a heavy, and time consuming thing, that wouldn't even be to my liking. I guess I was just looking for something to fill the void of no project at that time. heck, I have a glass picnic table, with an umbrella.. didn't use it one time this summer, for a picnic....not even one time did I sit out there, to even read a book in the summer evenings.. what was I thinking????????????? lol........... thanks for being here, when I really need y'all......... OK - you've been officially told :-) 2 year grafts are much too young to be messing about with. Give 'em a couple of season of growth before you start making any decisions about altering their appearance.
