Should I just let these grow naturally for the first few years?

... I've read on some sites that JM pruning and shaping shouldn't be done when the tree is this young... it's only about 2 feet tall, if that. But this little guy looks funny with his 2 lonely and perfectly straight branches. Not that I've seen pictures of fjellheims that look twisty or shaped but still, this big "Y" just looks funny.

Also if I prune branches, do they sprout off 2 new ones and grow fuller like some things do? Sorry for the dumb question...

Oh and this is my Shishigashira, below. I bought them both in the fall as 2 year grafts so they're really just babies but why did only one branch sprout up this spring? Everyone else was like, "no we're good, we're just chillin down here" but that guy was all excited or antsy or something. Had to jump way up above everyone else.

I'm assuming I'll be told to settle down already and let them live a little but if that's the case I do need to be told!!

Thanks all,

Nicole
