If anyone coming to the San Antonio swap wants spider lilies, I will bring some.

Ohmygosh! natvtxn - I've been wanting red spider lillies for years and can never find them. Please save me some - now I know I MUST come - I'm really excited now, I saw them often when I lived in Dallas (long ago and far away) but never planted any. Since moving to San Antonio I've looked for them and never had any luck. I was about to order some online but would rather get some from you. I have a gorgeous red hibiscus cuttings I can bring. I don't know the name and not sure I can post a picture I took. The petals curl back like a Gloriosa lily and it has a very long stamen. It's unusual and really beautiful.
Also have lots of Night Blooming Cereus, Asparagus fern, Orchid Cactus and I don't know what else.

I read somewhere we're not supposed to "buy" anything but I would love to pay for some if it's allowed and I don't have anything you want. Let me know. Just name your price - (just kidding, of course)(sort of) (maybe not)

Absolutely not for sale, but I will give you some. That way I will always have a hold over you. LOL!

Thanks for the offer of hibiscus. They have to be carried to the green house in the winter. Also, I grew up in the valley and they were so common down there, subsequently they hold no appeal for me.

The answer to your question would be yes provided the bloom was pollinated by an appropriate insect. You are more likely to find good answers if you look up the family Amaryllidaceae since this plant is not an aroid nor in the family Araceae. Steve

Hi Tink, I don't know what the seeds should look like, so I did a little search and found out that maybe there are no seeds. Here's what I read: The most common hurricane lily is Lycoris radiata var. radiata (also known as red spider lily; Figure 1), producing red-orange flowers. This plant is a sterile triploid, preventing it from forming seeds and causing it to be free-flowering. Without the burden of producing seeds, this plant is also very fast growing, resulting in large clumps of bulbs that can be separated and planted. Lycoris radiata var. radiata is vigorous and produces bulbs so prolifically that it is far more common than its smaller, seed-producing diploid form known as Lycoris radiata var. pumila.
