Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens...

Do any of ya'll clip or save pictures of plants & landscaping that inspires you? If so I'd love to see some, including your own! Seeing pictures of Plantmaven's beautiful landscaping job (in the "blackout" post by sailor86) inspired this post. See my link for one of my

favorites.

The picture of various grasses in a garden setting is wonderful.

And yes, Plantmaven has done a beautiful landscaping job and most amazing of all has done it quickly! The before and after pictures are very helpful.

And yes again, before I got online I used to clip pictures out of gardening magazines. Now I go to garden galeries. There was a poll on the Cottage Garden discussions page and I was surprised to read that a large percentage of the people reading the main page didn't even realize there was a Cottage Garden Gallery.

I took this at the National Wildflower Center a couple of years back. I think it was August and hotter than blazes even though it was like 5 pm or so. Learned that if you show up about an hour before closing, they will let you in free. Some times of the year, an hour is more than I can take.

I've always wanted a water feature and love this one. But I don't have enough money to hire someone to do one (or maintain it) and I have "end stage osteoarthritis" so I cannot even dream of doing it myself. oh well, at least it doesn't hurt to look at the ones that other people have done.

Most excellent, Larissa! Babies rock! I discovered a baby growing alongside my Sumatra, and my Germa bulbs both have several new babies! Yee-Ha! "Love is like a bomb, Baby, c'mon get it on!" Can you guess what's blasting my eardrums this morning? "Pour some sugar on me... in the name of love... Pour some sugar on me... c'mon fire me up!" Oh Yeah! My fav band of all time! I'm so old... Back to the hippis... I've noticed a lot of new growth on several of my bulbs... and 3 out 4 of my Papilios are pushing up new green leaves! Outside the windows... it's frigidly cold... a whopping 17 degrees... and the mega snow is falling, or I should say, blowing... sideways!! A very good day to stay in and listen to some music... with a cup of hot coffee in one hand!

Oh my goodness. What a surprise to end the day finding all these wonderful "favorite things" -- I love it! Creating and sharing beauty; everyone here seems to have an interest in that. Michaela, you and I are sharing the uplifting experience of finding some new roses that don't "sleep" after they're newly planted. I expected these roses to do not much of anything this first year. Instead, they're lending a maturity to the new "Garden of Forgotten Dreams" that's making me so happy. From my early observations, though, I do think Carding Mill performs better in heat than it does when the weather cools. Msdorkgirl, is your Grand Dame a prolific bloomer? I've been seeing pictures of this rose exploding with blooms, and wonder if that happens commonly. Ingrid, how warm and inviting to share your cherished antiques -- exquisite! You say you don't have many roses blooming, but the ones you have are gorgeous. I especially love the picture of Aunt Margy's Rose. Thank you everyone for this nice gift at the end of a very long day. So . . . When the Bloom Balls . .

Kim, thanks for thinking of me in that way. The majority sent in 2- 37 cent stamps so I am sure they will be covered. I have sent out seeds before with the same number of packs inside and they all arrived with no problem. I am sure the postage will cover it. I am not sure how this works but I have heard people say that they received seeds with postage due on them. I figured this meant that the mailer didn't put enough postage so they got their seeds but owned some money for the difference. Does this mean that if someone owes a few cents it will arrive regardless? I will be putting them in a mailbox since they will already have the postage, rather than taking them to the PO. I truly think we are fine with postage. The envelopes aren't really all that heavy. Thanks Dawn

We just hid our microwave in a tall cabinet. You can't see it & yet it's easily accessible. Just make a hole in the back for the cord. And it's not built in so if it breaks we can just replace it. LOVE IT TOO!

Sorry about that. The first one is 'Blue Boy' Thunbergia battiscombei, and the second one is White Bleeding Heart vine, Clerodendrum thomsoniae.

Wilo...that little oasis looks so inviting. I just want to lay there and listen to the water gurgling. Would be nice to have a natural spring fed pond on the property. And no maintenance!

Jim you really seem to have a green thumb. Those are just stunning! And I've never seen 'white bleeding heart' before. Did you start that from seed or where did you find it?

DF Wings, It's not so much a 'Green Thumb' as it's time. I'm retired and spend countless hours in the garden, and fertilize on a regular basis. The 'White Bleeding Heart' vine is readily available at good nurseries in our area. It is also very easy to grow from cuttings.
