don't think they are white pot worms

I've had my worm bin for a year and plagued with tiny white moving "rice." They are in the drainage bin and the worm tea is alive with them. I checked with my provider and was told they are white pot worms - but they don't look like the photos I've found. They look like microscopic rice.

I was told to use two tablespoons of hydrated lime every two weeks - sprinkle it over the top of the top bin. It is like the killing fields - the bin is alive with my poor worms writhing in caustic lime. The worms are dying off but the "rice" worms are alive and well although the soil is now so sweet. What are they? Do I need to kill them off? I'm afraid to use the worm tea on my bonsai and house plants - Thanks. Pam
