It's totally possible Jeremy, a Die is commonly use for making threads on blank steel bolt not to mention on plastic material such as riser pipe , you can acquire them at some hardware stores. The idea is to customize your own length, whether to resume a used broken pipe or start from a blank riser, a coupler is also an option but lesser the joint the better the performance, my pipe breaks often by accident from garden service and I am tire of running to stores for parts. You can try stopping down the radius of the the existing heads to 27 ft. This would allow a 50% overlap which is a standard for good design. Still,the indications are that the system now requires a major maintenance check. It is a 'moderately difficult' DIY project.

I'm really thankful that California Bob posted the info about the diaphragm problem. In my back yard, I have 4 Richdel 205's, two of them slowly quit working after about 10 years. The rep at the HD store told me that the problem is definately a solenoid problem and definately not a diaphragm problem since the valves work fine manually. I purchached two of the less expensive solenoids and had no sucess. Then another rep told me that the more expensive solenoids were more powerful and would work. No sucess. I removed the solenoids from the valves and laid them on the grass so that I could watch them work when they were energized by the timer. They worked fine. I decided to look for replacement 205's on the web and found California Bob's advice about replacing the diaphragms. I puchased the diaphragms for model 204, which work fine on 205 and my sprinlers work great again. Thanks California Bob.

All of his solenoids are working with timer's manual operation, so the issue has to be timer internal or with the automatic programming. I read the directions on Permanent Days Off. If they are set to OFF watering will not occur on any days. They all need to be set to ON. "In some areas, watering is prohibited on specific days of the week. If you are using an ODD/EVEN or CYCLIC watering cycle, you can set these days off so you wonâÂÂt violate watering restrictions. 1. Select a program that has an ODD/EVEN or CYCLIC watering cycle (not a CUSTOM cycle). 2. Turn the dial to the day of the week you want to turn OFF. 3. Press OFF. âÂÂDAY ALWAYS OFFâ scrolls across the display. Watering will never occur on this day of the week, regardless of the watering cycle or program. 4. To turn the day of the week back on, press ON. 5. Turn the dial to AUTO."
