How pretty. All I have coming to my feeder is a cardinal pair. I used to have all sorts of birds coming to feeders in the past. Hopefully it will pick up soon.

Pretty bird!------are they common in your area? I have never seen one here in Austin. What are you offering them in the way of seed?

I have never had an Indigo bunting, Jim, but on occasion, do see a painted bunting at my feeders (and that always gives me a rush as they are so beautiful).

I'm not much of a birder. But, in simple parlance we have: Cardinals, blue birds, robins, dove, sparrows, and several I don't have a clue about ID'ing.

How pretty, your lucky to have one feeding in your back yard.

I only get plan birds LOL.

I had my first cardinal the other day and a mockingbird has been hanging around - pretty exciting given I'm in a newer development with limited trees/shrubs for them.

What a pretty bird! I love watching birds in our backyard. We get the usual cardinals, blue jays, mockingbirds, sparrows, doves, house finches, juncos, Carolina chickadees, cedar waxwings (in the winter), etc. One year we even had a red tailed hawk land on our arbor waiting for the little birds to come back to the feeder, but they were too smart to come out of hiding. I love hearing the house finches sing - such a pretty little song. Then there was the mockingbird would stay up late and get up early in the morning to sing his heart out trying to get a mate. We also have purple martins, but they don't visit feeders since they're bug eaters. I also see barn swallows along the greenbelt near our house. I love those since they zoom around eating even more bugs.

We even have a dove pair that uses a nest on top of our arbor in the backyard. She was so good about sitting on that egg and keeping the baby warm, but the other day I looked out and it must have fallen out of the nest because a blue jay was jabbing at its neck. It was either eating it or had killed it. Mama dove was still on her nest not knowing what to do. I scared the blue jay away and picked up the baby in a plastic bag and threw it in the trash. Mama dove sat on her empty nest for a little while longer before figuring out she didn't have a baby anymore then flew away. I was just disgusted with the blue jay, but I guess that is nature.

Wow! You are so lucky to see AND be able to take a photo of the Indigo bunting. I've seen Texas painted buntings at Lost Maples Park, but never have seen an Indigo.

Denise, had the same thing happen to a little Mexican dove that was nesting in the crook of a tree in my yard. I saw a Blue jay gobble the little ones up in a flash.

i am soooo jealous --i looked for indigo and painted buntings when we lived between lake jackson and angleton
but i never once had a sighting
