Newbie question - hedge / privacy screen for central NY state
Comments (1)I suggest you give parameters and context. Landscaping is about solving problems within a framework of the surroundings. Showing a picture of the "big old white pine" shadow and surroundings could help. What's being screened?...See MoreSeed for bare spot (Catskills, NY State)
Comments (4)Contractor's blends sound impressive since contractors are pros, so they must use the best, but contractor's blends are usually really cheap blends designed to germinate quickly and give a lawn ASAP so a house can sell. If you're looking for a short term solution, that's fine and it might get you through the summer, but need a reseeding with something better in the fall. I think I remember your earlier posts and you've got a lot of shade. Is that right? If so, I'd go ahead and seed the contractor blend now, but plan on seeding a fine fescue blend in the fall....See MoreNeed Help ID-ing a plant in Western NY state
Comments (6)Most recent news on EAB is that it may be considerably less a scourge than previously thought. Here in E. Trapping is being done again this year, so perhaps this will change. But sofar at least, this situation has not gotten too bad. +oM...See MoreCabinetmaker Recommendation Central NY State

I grew up in the little one stop light town (literally!) this place is in, though I don't know the owner. Also, I couldn't find a website, but my husband used to work for Kershaw-Zelewski in Utica (315-724-3619--I still have a pile of their pencils in my pen holder here at my desk LOL) about 8 years ago and at the time they had a custom cabinet shop. My husband worked as a carpenter in the remodeling end so I don't know much about the cabinet shop because they were kind of run as two separate divisions. I can tell you my husband learned how to do immaculate finish carpentry during his years there because they had exceptional standards....See MoreHank1120
