What's your wallpaper? (possible dial-up nightmare)

I was just wondering what you all had as you computer wall paper. This is the current one, it seems to change every other day, or so.

Dianalo, thanks for the doors link! Funcolors, I just don't like the grooves that are routed into the doors. Those are the white lines you see on the doors in the photo. Andee, yes I'd remembered the gal who painted her counter. I think there are some online tutorials. Sheilaaus122, aren't we officially just sweet kids until we reach 65? ;) Rosie, fundraisers? Yes we really do deserve laundry rooms that make us smile. I called my utility company the other day to ask if I could sew a "cozy" for my electric water heater. The gal put me on hold and when she came back she said they were all chuckling over the idea and I was the first person to ask that. Can't imagine why, because I can't be the only woman alive sick of staring at an ugly water heater. Htnspz, I've been looking and looking for that paper or close to it. I'm still looking. I should start a thread on that. Emagineer, you said "but you have pulled off ideas we never thought would work." Thank you! That is what I like doing, taking something that's a bit edgy or different and seeing if I can pull it off. I've made some colossal mistakes that way, but also had a few nice triumphs. If it's any comfort, I can't find the paper either and I sure have tried. If one of us finds the stuff, we should alert the other. Which bedroom pic inspired you? You know the one that got to me was the bed with big orange flowers, orange checked bedskirt, and lots of pale green trim in the room. Never could find that quilt anywhere. Pamghatten -- that's a great compliment, thank you! You're right. Ordinary has never been my goal. I prefer "wow" if I can manage it. I have often had to kiss a lot of frogs before finding the prince, decoratingly speaking. ScoobyRuby, thanks for the tip about Ikea. It never would have dawned on me that I could get a pre-made. Bronwynsmom, you said, "it combines two things that would be better by themselves." It combines two things we don't normally see together. That's the whimsical part that made me laugh -- but hey, I'm glad there are people on this earth with all sorts of tastes that are different from mine. I enjoy seeing what they do. Good thoughts about the laundry room. The green in this guest bath will be low; it shouldn't reflect on the guests' skin. I've spent a lot of time on Thibaut's home page. I agree with you they have some great stuff. Sheesh, you're right that hardware needs to go. I'm thinking I'll put up wainscoting (I probably have enough left over paper for the bathroom) and paint that and the vanity green. To those of you who didn't like the paper, thank you for sharing what is so for you. I go out on decorating limbs a bit, but with hopes that I can make it work. Sometimes I can. Sometimes I can't.

Nightmare underneath wallpaper...what exactly are these layers....?

Well, I think the brownish residue I mentioned (calling it 'problem 1') is sizing, because I just saw this on Hunker.com "Wallpaper hangers apply sizing to painted walls before hanging the wallpaper, because it makes installation easier and also facilitates in future removal of the wallpaper. While the wallpaper may be easier to remove on a sized wall, the glue residue and sizing itself can be very difficult to remove. If you're left with brown residue on the wall despite scrubbing and sanding, that's the sizing. " That sounds just like what I'm dealing with, although I have no idea why it was just under one wall and not 3. Perhaps the original owners wallpapered only one side of their room? (owners #2 just wallpapered all 3) ...and fortunately that article mentions that I can paint over it without removing it. Which is good, because I had almost given up. And I think the other grey/white plaster must be skim coats put down as part of owner #2's wallpaper. Is it ok just to scrape this skim coat off?

Cran, I am usually the one who needs a fire lit under me! Arapaho I also gravitate towards greens and yellows and those are the predominant colors downstairs. I made a concerted effort upstairs to use blue and white and taupe in the main living area and secondary bedrooms. Tina, part of the reason I wanted to leave off the chair skirt is because I wasn’t sure I have enough fabric for it. A large plaid or pattern repeat means just a club chair skirt can take 3 yards of fabric! So after I saw the bed I called the upholsterer and told him to leave off the skirt and change the legs to turned ones. It was a question of necessity as much as happy coincidence.

Your vague "something else" response to Denita's question seems evasive. You say you can't paint the entire wall, and don't explain why not. You say that the paint involved is "luxury'high end," but normal apartment owners don't generally use that kind of expensive stuff. I may be jumping to conclusions, but this whole situation smells a little off. Regardless, I can't guess what's really going on there. I can only say that most likely what your landlady said is correct - the entire wall will need to be painted for it to look right. I will also say again that IF you're renting, painting is NOT your responsibility. In fact, if you were my tenant and you painted anyway, there's a good chance that you'd be paying my painter to do it over. Just saying.

My DH put up roses for me. He changes out the flower about once a month. It's my virtual bouquet!
Baby pics(with big sis looking adorable)!!! That is sooo cute! I like all of the pics I see here. Dogs,babies(little girl too!),flowers and a very happy looking bride-to-be. It's so cheery and sweet.PJ

Right now I only have what is on the computer some flower.
Use to have fur babies.
Everyone's pic's are sweet and pretty but my heart goes to that watermelon dog LOL. He's so cute. He look's like he's cross eyed in that pic LOL.
My son got a new dog that is so sweet, she's a great dane but so gentle for her size.

Mine's a slideshow of Thomas Kinkade. Sometimes I change it out for a while.

Barb, my DD has a Great Dane and she's the funniest dog I've ever seen. She thinks she's small and you should see her sit in my grandbabies chair. Her hiney sits in it barely and the rest of her hangs over on the floor.

Scuba - nice pic. Did you take that? If so, did you use a shift-tilt lens, or a lens baby? I tried to look at the exif but there was nothing there.

We're so boring here at the house. We don't have wallpaper on this computer. Though DH has a screen saver that flips through photos of his college - lots of pretty landscaping.

My wallpaper at work is a BEAUTIFUL shot of the UT Tower lit up in orange w/ the number one! All in front of the Littlefield Fountain! HOOK 'EM!!!!!

I must warn you:
When looking up stuff about photography, you'll get addicted to it!

I have had more cameras and lenses in the past five years than most have in a life time. Each had a specific purpose and function.

I took photography in HS, way back when film was still used in the majority of cameras (94-98). I had a small hiatus, but I took up to hobby again.

Mine is a wolf. My parents think my sweet little gray kitty is a wolf. I tell them he is from Russia, but it makes no difference. Everyone thinks he looks strange. He is handsome! He chirps like a Russian!
