Gorgeous yellow flowering tree with large flowers needs an ID.

This amazing tree is flowering here in Nayarit, Mexico during the dry season. It is quite common here, with hundreds of them scattered in the dry deciduous forest; yet, none of the locals seem to know its name. It is totally leafless at the moment, and the tips of the bare branches are bearing very large (10-14 cm) yellow flowers with orange centers that open broadly. After the flowers, there are large burgundy pods. The trunk is smooth and gray.

PLEASE help me to ID this tree.
