New for me this year. I'm quite pleased with it.

'Dakota's Song'

I saw this in TwoHuskies garden this spring and tracked it down the following weekend, scooping up the last one in the nursery. As soon as I saw it, I knew it was something special.

It's a pure Buck rose even though Buck never hybridized it. Its parentage is all-Buck with 'Applejack,' 'Golden Unicorn' and 'Prairie Harvest' as the proud parents.

Three good flushes this season. The full flowers have a fruity scent -- quite lasting and rich. The nodding blooms take a good time to open and just as long to fade. The flowers were more golden-peach this warm summer, but with the recent cool weather, the peach has receded into the flowers' centers and gentle, cool pink colors the petals.

The rose is disease-free for me this summer without spraying. So far, it's small, to two feet for me. I expect it will be bigger next year. Can't comment on the hardiness, but since I have experience with all the parents, I am confident it will be snowline hardy or hardier in my zone four garden.

Oh wow! You got some nice roses!!! Going to Sam's is always dangerous for me. This year I went to get a big bag of fertilizer (which is awesome btw) and came back with 4 roses. Were people picking strawberries yet? I've had my Quadra for a couple of years now. It was purchased as a band so it started out really small. My only complaint about this rose is that it does take some time to really get going. I believe I've heard the same thing on these forums as well. Someone posted a goregous pic of Quadra trained up an arbor on Help Me Find. I think you'll really like this one. You should keep Fantin Latour. Of course the fact that I've had it on my wish list for years has nothing to do with it... But really, you got 3 absolutely outstanding once bloomers and 3 repeat bloomers. And if you go back down there you risk bringing home more roses. But if you do go look for Dakota's Song. It's one of my absolute favorites out of many, many roses in my garden. I was over to Sam's this year & bought one of each, unfortunately one was misnamed & discovered I had 2 Dakota Songs when they started to bloom. So far I'm impressed with the quality & quantity of bloom, fragrance & health. I have high hopes for the plants but need to give it 2 or 3 years before final judgement. Plan on going back to Sam's & picking up a Dakota Sun next year

Nice photos John! It sounds like you are happy with All the Rage. I love all the color changes each bloom goes through, and have you noticed how the blooms close up a little in the evening? I agree that not many of the Easy Elegance roses are very interesting but for those looking for something easy care to throw into the perennial bed they are just perfect. Have you looked at Macy's Pride? I really like that one. Very light creamy yellow to near white, sometimes the slightest blushing of pink at the edges and a light fragrance. It's breeding includes Graham Thomas and Carefree Beauty! I've posted a few of my pix on HMF. I'm sure you can't resist a quick peak to see for yourself.... Those lilies are a thing of beauty!

Patty- the one I got is own root. You can see there is no graft. The ones that are grafted are prety obvious- the rootstock is pretty hefty.., Julie- That's a hard one. Depends for what you are looking. Mother's earth's gardens in Minneapolis is a good one, Dundee nursery is nice on Hwy 55 (plymoth), bachmans is pretty well known. If you feel like heading out a little ways there is shady acres in Chaska or gertens in inver grove heights. If you Are Going To Be Further out west, 101 Market in Otsego Is nice.... The mn landscape arboretum is a neat place to visit as is the munsinger rose garden in st. Cloud.... is Kiss me an Easy Elegance rose? I think most nurseries carry those roses. I would check lowes and home depot...

John - I'm so glad you like it as much as I do. Mine has been as hardy if not slightly hardier than the majority of my Buck roses. And come to think of it I've only sprayed once this year and not a touch of bs yet..

Anyone know how to get this rose into other nurseries? The only one offering it doesn't ship roses anymore which means John is really just TEASING YA'LL unless anyone is up for a road trip to Minnesota!!!

By far this rose is one of my absolute favorites. Good hardiness, abundant bloom, fragrance, healthy foilage, and a gorgeous color. Just about perfect if you ask me..

Seriously, I'm not trying to tease, but I am hoping promoting this rose will encourage demand from this forum, and that this demand will stimulate nurseries to sell 'Dakota's Song.' It is an amazing rose; one this color is rare for cold-climate gardeners.

As I said yesterday, this is slow-moving rose. Here is the same bud nearly two full growing days later. I took this tonight. The earlier photo was yesterday morning.

Just checking back in with an update on this rose.

It appears to be snowline-hardy. There's a lot of sturdy green cane on my plant. It's too early to prune here. Still, I won't have much to remove from this rose.

Sam Kedem roses (Hastings MN) carries this one. Matter of fact he's the only source as far as I know. I would highly suggest if you are going to get this one to buy more than one. It really is one of my absolute favorite roses. One of the blooms last year was as big and round as an orange. I should upload more of my pix to HMF...

I usually see the lighter peachy almost pink color in John's photos in spring and late fall. The rest of the year the color for me is what you see in my photo.

Oh My! This is beautiful and I'm a Buck rose fan. Too bad Kedeem's is not shipping this year. If one of you would like to run to Kedeems and pick me up one and then ship it, I would be forever thankful!

Early May isn't a good time to visit Kedems. The roses will be potted up, but none will be in flower. I have had several problems with mislabeled roses from that place. I always wait until June when they are flowering, and only select plants in bloom.

Nice man, great selection. Many inventory problems.
