Precious Platinum, Livin Easy, Outta the Blue, Double red Ko, Mister Lincoln, and two Sunrise at Heirlooms are blooming here in September.

Sept 30..... in Franklin I have pansies which were cut back 6 weeks ago and are now revived back from spring looking happy and blooming strong again. wax and fiberous begonias, kale, shrimp plant, calendula, snaps, petunias, bachelor buttons, malva, coleus, sweet annie, false queen anne lace, lavendar, sunflowers, rudbeckia, zinnias, asters, phyostegia, asters whats still is alive with lots of foliage is: avacadoe plants, key lime tree, scented geraniums,Banana tree, orange tree, taragon, lettuce, onions, parsley, cucmbers(dont look great-too manyducks trampling onthem)The maples are turning bright red What I have growing in West Tremont, Maine is well, we have a garden center so everything is looking pretty good very diverse in plant species and still much is lush and blooming. In my pataote beds 20X20 feet The pataotes still have not died back much so I am still waiting for that harvest to occur. My garlic is blooming nicely! The lavetera did fabulous this year and is still bloomin it little heads off along the pet zoo animal fence. There is also lots of sunflowers blooming happily!

Hello all, nice to be back. With all the activity going around, I guess I should also launch the other thread of "What happened in your garden this week". I'll start it on Monday. I am still doing my spring cleaning, or should I say.... my fall cleaning. But it's going well, I still have the upper hand on my garden! I haven't seen my iris reticulata yet, which is a bit of a surprise. Things are warming up very slowly, I guess it's the same for all of us. I hope no one ate them.... and my rose "Marechal Niel" is also in bloom but that's inside, so of course it's cheating... Best Belle Isis

Wow, this has got to be the peak in everyone's garden, right? So many great sounding flowers! Here's my list, from memory, since it's dark out. Woodies: late lilacs, enormous old red rhodies, swamp azalea, kousa dogwood, viburnum (American cranberry), carolina jessamine, red wigela, purple smoke bush, clematis montana rubra. Yellow-variegated sambucus is almost open, kerria japonica is just finishing up. Some of the early hydrangea are budding up - the white with enormous blooms (I call it Dolly Parton, but I think it might be Limelight?) and a division of preziosa that's sitting in a pot waiting for me to cart it up to Mindy. Perennials: siberian iris, rampant canadian anemone, red masterwort, columbine, money plant, heuchera (a dozen types), sea thrift, pinks, camassia, allium (some nifty new ones this year), nepeta, purple mullien, lots of columbine (red canadian and wild blue), wild daisies, sweet woodruff, pink geranium, wood hyacinths, foxglove. Oh, yeah, Crambe cordifolia - what a wild and wooly thing that is, a potted division is blooming as is another half that's in the ground. The peonies are about to burst, I hope they hold off until the rain stops! Annuals: my favorite is pink gazania, will bloom all summer and has the nicest silvery foliage. Lots of tender salvia and those nifty blue-eyed white daisies, Osteospermum fruticosum. I just love reading about what everyone has in bloom!

Oh sheesh, Growgirl, I have to apologize. I guess I wasn't thinking clearly and just assumed that you knew what some of the plants were, but not the variety. For example, I assumed you knew that the first photo was a hosta, but wanted to know what the named variety was. Ditto on the rose. Sorry for that. On that note, I'd agree with the above posts. From your first set of photos, #1 and #10 are hostas; #6 and #7 is a rose (with daylilies in front of it). I'd agree that #2 and #4 are weeds, although I'm not sure about #3. I think Sue is right about #9 being a forsythia. The other photos are too difficult to make out, at least for me (who has trouble with plant IDs anyway, lol!) Hope you are enjoying living in Milford and in CT in general. Make sure to keep an eye out for our plant swap in the fall! :) Dee

Lovely blooms! This has been a really bad yr for me bloom-wise. Not a whole lot going on. I guess if I had time to go out and deadhead more, I'd have more blooms.

Alpine Sunset looks better in person

Sultry

Palmetto Sunrise looses all its red and orange in the late summer and it is like having two different minis.

Silver Star

St. Patrick which has 20 blooms on it right now.

Evelyn, who looks better in photos and is a disappointing rose for me. Edges brown in heat, very long canes have blooms only on the ends, very few flushes. Still . . . .

Beth, I love your Annie Davidson, I think that's the first time I've seen that rose!

Kathy, I live St. Patrick....It's been on my short-list for awhile, I need to just break down and buy it!

Looking beautiful, TNY! I like your odd Hannah Gordon! And what a gorgeous big bloom on Moonstone!

You've got lots of beauties too, Beth, but I love the color of that Annie Davidson!

Kathy, that Alpine Sunset looks very good in the picture too! Palmetto Sunrise sounds very interesting. I'll have to check it out.

Ballerina, Franziska Kruger, Christian Dior--nice blooms, well photographed. Does Franziska tend to have a weak neck?

Second post--St. Patrick's Day can give some nice fall blooms.

Thanks Mantis, I just received Franziska Kruger about a month ago from Vintage Gardens, she hasn't even made it into the ground yet (I need to do that this weekend!), but she has three blooms currently, and yes, a weak neck on all three...but I still love her and her blooms are quite large already! The reason I chose her is because she is a tea rose that is hardy in my zone (6b) and its hard to find hardy teas that still look like teas to me..well she is suppossed to be hardy anyway..we'll see come spring! She is also suppossed to be disease resistant..lets all hope HMF is right :)
