The Pergola Project (Lot of pics, of course)

As some of you may recall, I began pining for a pergola last summer, spent the spring applying and paying for permits from the town and the HOA, and most of the summer coming up with the $$$ for the lumber. DH has spent the last three weekends pouring concrete, and cutting, staining, and installing the lumber. I've been taking photos of his progress, and thought I would share them with you guys.

95% complete. DH plans to put additional diagonal braces on the other side of the log, to prevent front to back movement

With the left over bags of concrete, DH poured a separate pad for the grill, which really freed up space on the patio. Besides, the grass wouldn't grow in that area anyway.

The patio is so much more inviting now, and I can't wait to grow grape vines over the top! DH is complaining about his shoulder being sore, and is still picking splinters out of his hands, but I think it was worth it : )
