So, what is it about DLs that make one go insane...
Comments (11)Hi all, Rob here from Manitoba,Canada. I've been looking at all of your great pics this spring and summer and reading the threads... thanks for the inspiration ... loved the pics... I can't really answer your question Tanya, but I was bitten by the 'daylily bug' this last winter too... I had several Stella' D'oros and a few other hardy daylilies around and had always liked the look of the foliage, but for some reason this winter I went crazy and ordered over 80 varieties, as well as buying hundreds of seeds on the LA... Well, one supplier went out of business, so I only received around 60some plants (which was a blessing and I got my money back on the others) and I'm trying to find a place for them all in my small yard... Back to the seeds from the LA... I have over 200 seedlings growing now and have to get them into a seedling bed very soon (alittle late, I know)... I just love the thought of growing seed and getting some new flower that no one else has ever seen before... waiting for that first flower to open (FFO) and seeing what that plant can really do... I'm still buying seed off the LA (Just can't help it), and can't wait to see what turns out...(BTW I'm already pollinating my new plants and hoping to get some of my own seed later...several pods are maturing as we speak... I should mention I am partial to spidery and UFo types, but do love all daylilies... :-) Thanks for listening... Rob (explorer_mb)...See MoreGoing insane: painting smooth ceilings
Comments (24)Light fixtures don't illuminate imperfections, it's the light from the windows that enters at an extremely sharp angle that does. I only see how imperfect my ceiling is during daylight from the window light. At night with electric light the ceilings look perfect. Don't worry about that. Once I finished the painting I completely forgot about those imperfections. I haven't looked at my living room ceiling once since, and the only time I see my bedroom light is in the morning when I lie in bed and can see how wavy the sheetrock is on my ceiling. No paint technique would aid that. Yet I accept it and it doesn't bother me one bit. In retrospect, I should've stopped after the first try. It's really a non-issue. Have you ever paid attention to anybody else's ceiling, ever, anywhere? Just roll it and call it a day. In a week you won't remember this was even a problem....See MoreMy sink has a bar behind it with no back splash and I am going insane.
Comments (23)Thank you all, last night when I was handling the dishes you see in the strainer I realized I do need a much deeper sink. I never really paid attention to it but things like that red salad bowl or the glass pan have far too much air space when they're in the sink. The part to the left of the sink would bother me more had it not been a perfect spot for the strainer to go (that way we aren't moving dirty dishes over the clean dishes to get to the open half of the sink) and surprisingly it doesn't spill much on that side even if we do use the faucet over there. Luckily there's plenty of room to the right of the sink for placing larger dishes that need to be washed....See MoreGoing insane trying to find tile flooring - please help!
Comments (4)"preference is porcelain - durable and easy on the budget)." Nothing you have mentioned is easy on the budget. 1) If your subfloor is wood have you checked deflection to see if tile is a option? Rip up, adding underlayment, baseboard R&R, cutting doors etc. will be required at a very substantial cost. 2) 18x18 tile requires minimal subfloor variation. Expect to pay $$$ to bring it within tolerances. Be sure to purchase rectified tiles for 18x18 yes again more $$ 3) You will need to find a installer capable of installing 18x18 tiles. I recommend a installer that uses a lippage tuning system. Again more $$. I suggest first have a professional tile shop (not a box store) give you a estimate for a large format tile installation. It is best to know the real world price of your project before making yourself nuts about the color. IMO...See Morembellot
