I thought that the hardiness and drought tolerance were unusual. Like I said, the other three roses on the property were nearly dead (very few leaves, those left were diseased, no blooms, etc.) but this one was healthy and blooming without any supplemental water and in part shade. If you can't identify it, then suggestions for roses that are as tough and continuous blooming would be appreciated.

Kind of looks like my Paul Neyron. My first flush of Paul is sometimes hot pink but definitely lighter as the season goes on. Petal count might not be your rose though.

Streptocarpus hybrid. There are dozens of these in a range of colours through pink to blue and purple. Like the related African violets they come from species native to the mountains of East Africa, mostly growing on rocks. Here in Sydney they grow vigorously in summer in pots, tolerating neglect as long as they get water. They die back in winter-spring and look almost dead, but keep coming back year after year.

I looked at the HMF page for Sonia Rykiel. The bloom form looks like it favors more of a cupped, old-fashioned shape. It appears that it sometimes has an yellow tint to it too, which I've never seen with this one. Mine is always a light pink. Gorgeous rose though. One thing I noticed about the rose today that may help an ID -- the scent has changed with the hotter temperatures. Now it smells strongly of lemonade/citrus! Really incredible scent. I wish there was a way to convey it here.
