HI Kaylah, It "could" be celestial, the only objection would be the outer petals look different to me, plus, doesnt celestial open up to show its stamens alot of times? This stays fairly doubled through its stages. It might be celestial, I do not know! Its more than likely this area would have been settled by English settelers during that time. The only other option would be french, they were more to the south and eastern north. Later the Irish and Scots came, but that was a little later. Veilchen, that rose does look similiar, my first thought was this rose was an alba of some sort due to the height and scent. But im not sure now. My buds look a little different i feel like though... take a look...I can only guess as to when the rose was planted. I do not know if it was the year the house built or much later. This is in a town in the South American Andes. I thought it might be Pinus radiata or maybe Pinus wallichiana. If it is radiata then pretty much all the trees around are also infected, because they all look pretty much alike. Does anyone know of any large tree (conifer or otherwise) that grows well at high altitude (3500+m)in a dry climate (rain in the summer), and on somewhat clay soils? Tough question, I know. ;) I've been researching this for months... The only thing that seems to thrive is Eucalyptus globulus, but I'm looking for something that will let other plants and grass grow under it. So this pine (if we can determine what it is)seemed like a good choice, but if it is susceptible to this infection then maybe not so much. Any ideas? FxBeast

The rose was planted by my Granddaddy Mosley (Mother's father) many years prior to his death in 1982. While I don't remember when, I saw the rose many times while growing up. It was planted in an old tire beside the house. It didn't receive much sun in it's later years. I spoke to my Mother this morning, she believes Granddaddy planted it between 1950 and 1955. After his death, the rose received little or no care. In the spring of 2008 my mother's friend, Preston, took the only green shoots off the old stalk and was successful in rooting them in water. He planted the 2 which survived in front of my Mother's old flower bed. I took some cuttings from them this spring and have 2 surviving in pots right now. Below are pictures of this rose. Please help me identify it. As I have said, it is a very resilient rose and one I hope to propagate and distribute among my family. After comparing the pictures (I can't see the roses right now as they are 200 miles from me), I can't tell about the coloration BUT seems to me the "real thing" is much more pink. My color seeing abilities are not the greatest but I think they are solid pink. I thought this might be the best forum to post in --- didn't see it until I had already posted in the main forum.
