Name That Rose!

Help Identifying Mauve Rose (PICS)

Hi,

I've been trying to identify this rose for more than a year now. I think it might be Wild Blue Yonder but I'm not sure. I get's huge here in my AZ garden. It grows 7' tall and almost 5' wide and it produces big clusters of flowers. I've counted more than 70 buds per flush, and it's has a very strong fragrance too.

The leaves are big.

All I can think of is 'Aloha', which this reminds me of but I don't think is. I thought by now somebody else would come out with it.

#3 is likely 'Louis-Phillippe', the very best old rose for Florida. #2 could be 'Old Blush', though the flower isn't typical. If the foliage and habit are similar to #3, it is some kind of old China rose, and these are well adapted. 'Seven Sisters' might (I'm not sure) have trouble with the nematodes unless it is grafted, that is, if you have sandy soil. Is there a bulge where the canes diverge? If so, it is probably grafted on an appropriate rootstock (Fortuniana). Prune off anything that looks unhealthy and plant the SS. If to be potted, it would need a huge container, 25 gal. Give plenty of food and water, at least until they are well established. Rose Tone is a good fertilizer.

I finally found this thread again. Couldn't get it through my head it was in the gallery and not the roses forum. And more gorgeous purples and lavenders have been added--every one of them is too lovely to pick a favorite. Vansunny, I especially love your Young Lycidas. Another option might be Nicole Carol Miller which has been holding the heat pretty well, retains a mild fragrance, fades but not too badly. Needs lots of water to keep going though. This NCM bloomed yesterday and faded a bit in yesterday's 100 degree heat. The NCM below opened this morning, this is the color before getting blasted by heat. tammy, I meant to say earlier what an outstanding example of Quicksilver you have and how beautifully it complements your house/shutters. Absolutely charming. I hope mine will do as well. I wanted to say that here in lime country Basye's Purple is doing pretty well even in a slightly shaded area. I hope to get cuttings for a sunnier spot, but it's a rose I can forget about and it seems to do fine. Here Munstead is never red. When it's very hot and sunny it's more of a fuchsia.

Thanks, I looked up Aloha but it doesn't look like mine. I really think it's WBY...the pics from HMF look very similar to mine.

Melody Perfume looks very similar too. The descriptions on HMF (by members) seems to match my rose.

It looks more like Heirloom to me.

I agree with seil. It does look like Heritage. I have a WBY and it is way more lavender. WBY has wavy petals that dish out rather flat when fully open, with an open-ish center. Good luck!

Wow I'm really juiced now. I just bought a nice Melody Perfume yesterday.

Do the blooms start out dark and then lighten up or the reverse?

The blooms start out dark like the first picture and then lighten up.
I bought Heirloom about a year ago and the flower color is different(warmer)from this mistery rose.
I looked up Melody Parfumee and it looks a lot like my rose.
