I used to grow it in OHIO zone 6a I know for a fact it is hardy in zone 5b Ne Ohio "a friend of mine still has it there..... It survived for me -17F in Ohio and remained semi-evergreen at -8F... So if you want to grow it plant it on a sunny south or east wall or solid wood fence for protection and give it mulch in the winter in well drained soil and You stand a chance

Good luck Ang. You can plant anything just about, except things that are going to vine a lot. Pumpkins and most squash produce so heavy, you will have a jungle. We don't have our garden finished yet, but it is all outside. I have started some seeds inside and with the crazy weather we have had this year, some are anxious to get planted! LOL You like poppers, so different peppers would work well, some 'maters, lettuces and herbs. Just go to a garden center and they will tell you what you can grow and what to avoid. Just don't let them sell you the farm! Some like to make you feel like you need every tool and aides known to man. LOL I also was worried about light, but the heat may be a bigger problem, but you can put something up to shade them when needed. The plastic containers work great, for catching excess water. I start some of my seeds in the plastic containers fast food comes in and they are placed into the bigger low sided plastic storage bins. You might find plants on Craigs list even. Have fun.

Nmfruit, there's a definite art to covering plants around here I see a lot of people do it. Although I don't have a lot of experience gardening, I think this area is not too bad partially because of the high humidity year round. I notice we don't get rapid fluctuations in extremes in temperature. My garden plot is at the foot of some small mountains, so I was shocked when I go up at night to garden how different the air feels there then outside my house. Sometimes there's a thick fog as well coming down. The Eureka lemon I mentioned was very interesting. I have a black 500 L water tank I put directly behind the tree. I then took two old windows to form a triangle on the front. I covered the open top with frost cloth. My idea it was that the tank would absorb sunlight, and radiate the energy at night. It would also create a freezing buffer, as water takes a lot of energy to turn into ice. I left the tree top open to allow rain, but mainly to allow excess heat to escape during sunny days as I didn't want the citrus to break dormancy. My idea is to have citrus survive and do well with no costly electricity or hassle. I saw pictures in a report from a guy in zone 6 I think who was able to have fruiting citrus by creating for walls out of clearwater tanks and putting an old window over the top. It never went below freezing inside of the enclosure, despite getting to 18 below or something outside.

Violet was originally a colour. Before a light spectrum. Coined after the intense blue red colour of violets. And given a different name from purple because the intense blue hue was quite different than the much more red "purple". I think that's where the issue for some of us is with this rose. My family and friends were really excited to see TZ bloom. And when it finally did they were all disappointed lol. They said "I thought it was a purple rose". That's when I realised there's a big difference between each individual persons definition of the colour purple. After all those years of art school and photography purple is firmly drilled in as a more red tone. But to my mother who collects crystals, purple is the bright colour of amythyst. So when it didn't match her expectation she was really let down. The saturation on twilight zone can kinda be a problem too. No matter how deep and purple you get the bloom the colour will always look a little desaturated and flat. It lacks the richness and depth one expects from such a dark colour. Stainless Steel and Poseidon are like that for me as well. Very lovely colours that are very flat. Which I don't mind, but I personally think detracts from the colour. Imagine how great twilight zone would look with lots of depth! How's it smell to you? I've got a very good nose. And I can't smell it. Yet everyone else I know tells me it's intoxicating! It's so frustrating. I want to be able to smell it too. I'm not used to not being able to smell things :( I have a similar thing happen with my bedroom alot actually. My room is a big mesh of brilliant turquoise, teal, and aquamarine hues. But everyone only ever remembers it as "blue" or "green". Even though neither of those colours are in my room lol.
