I saw our weather here in Denver even made two of the National News shows today, so I thought IÂd post a few pictures. One of the shows called it wacky weather, but there's nothing wacky at all about it! It's just typically Denver!

Yesterday it was 74 degrees at the airport which is where our official temps are keptÂand we broke an all time high record. In my backyard it was 71 right against the north side of my house, and 81 in the shade on the sunny side. And then today happened!

I didnÂt actually get as much snow as it looks like I did. The wind was blowing like mad all day so it all drifted in certain areas. Right behind the house thereÂs very littleÂluckily since thatÂs where itÂs shady so it would take a long time to melt!

And hereÂs the before shot of my veggie garden where I have my winter sown seed!

And hereÂs the same place after!

And since everything was so warm from yesterday, when it started snowing and blowing the snow stuck to everything, so hereÂs some pretty shots of my front yard!

As IÂm posting this, Castle Rock, south of Denver (where SingCharlene lives) is still under a blizzard warning! How you doing down there, Charlene?

ButÂthis is Denver, and itÂs supposed to be in the 40's again tomorrowÂand itÂll all be gone!

Gotta love our weather here in Colorado! We took off Saturday for a nice 3 hour trail ride. I was in a tank top! Yesterday, it was blizzarding here the whole day.

I actually saw some green grass popping up here and there in my pastures and yards!

I am really getting the gardening bug - can't wait for Spring, and especially to see and smell my lilacs in bloom.

And what a difference 50 miles makes... We woke up Sunday morning in Fort Collins to flurries, but nothing stuck!

Thanks for the nice comments. I am especially fond of the short yellow flowers - the ones that make the nice puffs of seed? -Haven't gotten them cleared out yet. Well, it's Saturday, the sun is shining, and I'm off to play with my chainsaw. About the only trees that didn't get major damage are the spruce trees, only because we didn't have much wind. Connie

Dixie, I feel so bad for you. You really truly have my heartfelt sympathy. My mom is 91 and lives alone, near me. I worry about her endlessly. I never have enough time to give her all the attention she deserves. I was away for a few days and I worried that something would happen while I was gone. Thank heaven for cell phones so I could be reachable. My son lives nearby too, so he checks on her. I am dreading the day when the end comes. Honestly, I hope she is as lucky as your mom to just go to bed and not get up. I pray she does not have a long slow decline. She has always been so active and self-sufficient, it would be so hard on her. My mom has had the same phone number for 58 years! I can;t even imagine is being disconnected or later assigned to someone else. I try to prepare myself for the inevitable whenever it comes, but I wonder if I can do it. You had so much to deal with at once. How did you ever manage? I am so so sorry for your loss, and thank you for sharing your story.

It was in the 60s here on Thanksgiving too, the kids were outside playing without jackets. Friday it turned colder and last night it snowed. We got some gale force winds on Lake Michigan, causing the surfers to come out. They're nuts..... 60MPH winds actually blew a house down, although there were extenuating circumstances. It was in the process of being renovated and somehow just blew in half. I guess it'll need some more renovation now! The wind kicked up enough beach sand that it closed some roads until the crews could clear them and there was the usual flooding of homes along the lakeshore, that was kind of surprising since the lake level was so low this year because of the drought. I think most everyone has power back now and the wind has died down, so it's the normal November stuff. I did finally plug in the tank heater at the farm, it's below freezing every night and I don't think we'll have another warm up to speak of. I caved in and pulled the bok choy yesterday for kimchi. yes, I think winter is sneaking up on us.... Annie

So maybe it isn't so bad to be in "Even Steven" Pacific Northwest? But then, I've completely missed any 70Â° weather . . . missed any 60Â° weather, for that matter. . .

In fact, the warmest its been this year was 52Â°F . . . (boo, hoo). Right now, it's snowing (sob)!

Nice pics, Skybird. It was a bit blizzardy most of yesterday and we were out on the roads as we commited to playing music out on the edge of Parker/Franktown.

Our house looks about like Skybird's, maybe a bit more. Especially where the wind blew drifts (of course right at the front door and back patio:).

The sun shining brightly and all the white sure is beautiful today.

I worked in the garden all day Saturday and was bragging how I saw some green growing. That'll show me ;)

Don't cry, Steve. Spring is coming, it's coming!

Fast forward 24 hours!

It was 43 on the shady side and 50 on the sunny side in the shade today! You can see the line where the house shades the backyard at this time of year. When it quit snowing yesterday the snow was drifted to above the top of the 2-high railroad ties. All gone! The grass got a good wateringÂas did the perennials! Tomorrow the rest of itÂll meltÂand theyÂre saying we could get a little bit more on Wednesday. WeÂll see! For right now my winter sown flats are staying happily cold under a Â½" of ice water!

DonÂt cry, Digit! YouÂll get yours! UhÂI mean, itÂll get warm where you are too soon!

I'm kind of wishing we would get a little bit of snow to moisten things up. The Sunday storm didn't pan out for us, now there's another prediction for Wednesday/Thursday. Keeping my fingers crossed, otherwise I think I'll have to get out more than the watering can.
