beware burpee seeds
Comments (7)I just called them and they are sending out more. but here's the thing: 1. My sowing is set back by 10 days by the time I get them. 2. More importantly, as I told the person in customer service, this cannot be an anamoly. If 2 packets of seeds ordered by me, is SO low, not a few, but less than half as advertised - this must be their practice. And they count on people not complaining. I've had this experience with so many seed companies, and somewhere here there is a thread, where I asked people to recommend seed companies. And I was too in a hurry to check it. I'm aware there are seed companies that are very honest, but the number of companies that think it is ok to label a package as 100 seeds, and enclose 30, is staggering. what if you bought an pound of sugar and found out it contained 1/2 pound? wouldn't you be angry? Apparently people do not complain when they are cheated by seed companies, perhaps bec. they feel the relatively small amount of $ is not worth it. Thanks for the info about finding the seeds locally. that would have been my first choice, but I couldn't find them....See MoreBeware Trudi and Her Seeds...
Comments (12)Yeah, Trudi - I read about you & your Atomic Tomatoes in The Radish! And I do have a very large pair of loppers that I think I'll put close by the front porch door (just in case the Chadwicks turn towards the house). If anyone wants some seeds later on I imagine I'll definitely have some to spare - just let me know how big of a box you'd like. *desperate twittering* I have to confess that the only actual recipe I've ever used for cherry tomatoes is pretty much what you said, Trudi; sauteed with olive oil, garlic, onions, and basil (I've got to try that splash of balsamic - love that stuff). I'm not really sure what else to with them, but I reckon I'd better be researching it in the near future. I need to drag out my preserving cookbooks. Any ideas welcome! This morning I see that one wily tendril (that I swear was not there yesterday) has apparently decided against getting cozy with the corn and seems to be waving hello at a cucumber teepee. I can't even think about what a tangly nightmare that'd be, so I guess I'll have to go Out There. *shudder*...See MoreCaught InThe Act! Seed Snatchers BEWARE!
Comments (8)LOVE these stories!! I am unable to leave the house without baggies and now that this is my 2nd year at it, I know enough to bring a pen and precut pieces of paper. I have the hardest time remembering what is what when I get home. My daughter, nearly 2yo, can snatch with the best of them!! I prefer to snatch on my bike (less traceability) and last night while driving through an unknown neighborhood, I spotted 8' hollyhocks and something else with a seed head just SCREAMING my name. My son 4.5yo asked if we were returning on our bikes - YEAH!! He now understands that if we leave the flowers on the plant, we might get seeds. When collecting seeds in my yard, or the nearby neighbors, I now have a tote of supplies. I'm thinking I need a fisherman's vest, pockets galore, and a waist held basket - HA! I am becoming the crazy seed lady. DH is no longer embarrassed because he's seen the results of just one WS season, the beauty with cost savings. I also no longer get the eye roll when a swapper's envie arrives in the mail. The PO tried to overcharge for a seed envie and DH said - "go get 'em" when I went to complain - and actually asked what the result was when I returned home (no extra charge)....See More2B Seeds--BEWARE !
Comments (4)We had spoken to this customer letting her know the issue with the seeds that she had ordered, as soon as we heard from the supplier which is in Holland. She had insisted on getting a check INSTEAD of being credited on her card as what is usual and customary. I cannot believe that the check hadnâÂÂt any date on it.. She did not call us to let us know that.. I find that it is amazing that someone can just post what ever they want to say about whom ever- and that is suppose to be the truth. Yes we are in Denver, CO, but the company was incorporated in Nevada, the checking account is in a Nevada bank , which is also in Many states. There is no other address or phone number that is posted on our site and it clearly shows Colorado and Not Nevada. I do not know what phone numbers she is talking about, other that a 1 -800 that we use to have. (Too expensive) We are not a rip-off scam company like this person is suggesting. We are not a large company, just a husband and wife company and sometimes like for larger companies our supplies do not come in as promised to us, That is what has happened to us for any of our reviews. We will go to the bank today and send her a cashiers check which I am sure the back will have the date on it. I went to our shopping cart to issue her a credit and the timing since the order was issued has expired. My questions would be Why did she insist on having a check instead of having her credit card credited then? I do believe that this was her intention- to do this kind of posting. We get a lot of great messages from our customers, and a lot of phone calls, then we get this....See Moreassard
