ZZ plant - normal or pest?

i have a zz plant that is about 2 years old (separated from a larger, older plant). it seems to be in good health - sends up about 3 shoots per year. just the other day i noticed a bunch of these (see attached picture - don't know how else to describe them) in the soil. if you pull them out, they seem to have roots. they also have small seed-like things inside the "tube." are these pests/fungus, or are they some part of the zz, or are they some other plant? i would assume that they were a fungus immediately if not for the "roots" that they seem to have... any help is appreciated - i love this plant!
