Please ID very tiny pale yellow insects in indoor plants

My marigolds in summer were killed by some critters that are feeding on my kalanchoes now. They are light green to pale yellow very tiny round or pear shaped insects that molt and leave white flaky stuff aroung the pots. They also love living at the top of the plant and under the apical leaves and the flowers too. I tried cleaning off with water but they seem to be coming back. Should I just toss out the infected plants?
