destruction of cucs, zucchini, cantaloupe, etc.

Hi. It's my first time gardening this year. In the garden I've put cucumbers, squash, zucchini, cantaloupe, watermelon, among other things.

The cucumbers began to wither and die in early July.

The cantaloupe started out well and now the leaves are covered in what looks like a white powder. Others are completely brown and brittle. The melons have stopped growing.

The zucchini is starting to do the same as the cantaloupe.

The squash, well, just kind of disappeared.

Early in June I did see some cucumber beetles that look like this (http://newhomeeconomics.files.wordpress.com/2009/06/strcucbtlelg.jpg) I think they infect the plants with a wilt disease.

Now, on the zucchini I've seen some squash bug eggs and even some of the squash bugs.

What kind of diseases / pests am I dealing with?

I'm concerned the watermelon will be hit also.

What can I do different now and in the future? Is there any disease going to be leftover in the soil? Is there something I can do to eliminate any disease left in the soil so it is gone for next year?

I've posted a video of all the plants I'm talking about at this link... http://sharing.theflip.com/session/49dc10d32edf942e678af27cf115f0ce/video/5511540

Please respond if you have any ideas of what I can be doing or doing differently. I'm new to all of this.

Thank you!!! Seeing the plants die is a bit disappointing.
