New Frost Advisory Just Issued for North-Central OK

Okiedawn OK Zone 7

This is a new Frost Advisory in addition to the one issued for the NE OK area.

The NWS office in Norman has issued a Frost Advisory for tonight for several counties in north-central OK, pretty much those along/east of I-35 from the KS-OK border southward but veering slightly farther east as it reaches the middle of the state. Some of the counties covered by this advisory are pretty far south (as far south as the Holdenville/Pottawatomie County which I tend to think of more as southcentral or eastern OK). Click on the link below to see if your county is affected, and you can click on any county to read the current forecast and the Frost Advisory.

Remember that frost can occur at temps up to 38 degrees if the conditions are right, and do not expect your plants will be safe from frost if your overnight temperature is expected to stay above 32 degrees because that's not always true. See the other Frost Advisory thread for more info about the occasional frost we see with temps in the upper 30s.

So, be sure to cover up any tender vegetation you want to protect if frost is likely near you. This would include any warm-season annuals or tender perennials.

The Frost Advisory is in affect from 2 a.m. through 9 a.m. tonight/tomorrow.
